Hello folks, not updated for a while and not had a chance to read back so hopefully you are all doing well.
I am really pleased with myself this month - so far. Have managed to keep spending to a minimum eventhough we had folk in for a meal, so far this month I am at £119, so that leaves £231 for the next 17 days, although I do have a big butcher order coming today which is to fill the freezer so that should knock a hundred off, but having £130ish for veg and incidentals after that is great. This is the first month tha I have really managed to keep on track, and the cupboards are still relatively full. :T
Have a good day,Every days a School day!0 -
Sunnyday The bread worked! Really well. No escaping dough :T
Will have to see if it works with the 2008 bread mix as well. This GC is really concentrating the mind.
Beef Olives last night. Used the last of the whoopsied mushrooms. DH away this weekend so I'll be using up all the bits in the fridge in omelettes.GC Mar 13 £47.36/£1500 -
Well I have not posted on here for a while, been so busy and got myself a part time job which is the first permanent job I have had for 2 years. Been doing a day here or a day there with what ever agency could get me a job somewhere, so things are looking up..
I think I'm going to start doing this challenge again starting beginning of April as that is around when I will first get paid (doing a month in hand always sucks lol but I don't mind to much) My pay will be going towards one or two small bills (to help kill them off) and the food shopping and then I'll putt a few quid in savings account, as we really need to get a few quid aside for emergencies (like when we thought the washing machine had stopped working and we were panicking about where the money was going to come from to replace it, thank god it was only temporary and started working again)
Only going to be making about £400 a month, but its better then nothing, and what with my hubby working 60 hours a week doing 6am-6pm Monday - Friday I really want to help take some of the stress of paying everything off him as much as possible.
Hope everyone is doing ok so far with the challenge, and just went into Tesco yesterday and they are doing 3 for 2 on pet food (so cheapest item free) anyway didn't look to closely at the prices on the shelfs, but does any one know when that offer ends, cause if its still on next month then when my hubby gets paid then we are going to buy another load of cat food and hard food for our four cute babies
Ooh god suck a long post, sorry guys lol..Matthew, Izzy, Suzie, Harry, Darwin. My husband my cats, the main things that matter in my life...0 -
Bought some necessities - milk, bread, crisps, etc. Total £8.98.
Doing so well i cant believe how little we've spent. Will admit now that a school friend is coming to stay at the weekend and i may have to get something in for that, and i'm pretty sure we'll be eating out one day...
Had toad in the hole last night with gravy and veg and the leftover batter was used for pancakes and ice cream for pudding. mmmmmm. I've never seen our freezer so empty! But there's enough to last at least until the 27th (pay day). So chuffed. Thank you guys for all the encouragement and recipes!!DFBX2016 #160 - £3550/£8800

Morning All
I should hear about the job this afternoon, the interview went well despite my car not starting and my emailed presentation not being forwarded to the employer by the agency:eek:. Im in a bit of a dilema if I am offered it as I was offered a job yesterday. There are pros and cons to each job so I will have to have a good think about it. Either way I will start work some where between 21st Feb and mid march depending on the job:D
I have to realy pull in my spends as I need to raise the nursery fees for DS by 28th Feb:eek: First mistake I have made is not to cancel my veg box which came this morning  I still have not used all last weeks veg, it's still in good nick though, and really did not need this box. Lots of veggie based meals for us for the next 2 weeks, at least it is stuff I use regularly.
I have had to give DH about £15 this week for lunches as I keep having BM disasters so I am going to get some sliced bread today. I can't see me having the time to make it when I am back at work full time. Also need to get some formula, squash and sandwich makings but that should be about it. Will do some baking this weekend to pad out lunch boxes as I have lots in. I am intending to use last years club card vouchers because I was saving them for a ferry crossing and we have now decided to fly to my Dad's and non of the other offers appeal. I will still add the amount to my total as I did when I used the Mr S vouchers as I still want to be within my budget.

Thanks. I was worried about leaving poultry for so long as well. Tomorrow and Tuesday I'll have a burger for lunch (healthy, healthy!
), and Wednesday and Thursday I'll have a portion of quiche with some salad. The freezer has FINALLY defrosted today so I'll put the remainder of the turkey joint in the freezer which doesn't get used up tomorrow night...
My next spend will have to be some freezer bags and some sticky labels. I'll cut the quiche into quarters and slice the turkey into slices + label them. Will just need to buy salad stuff the next few weeks for lunches and I'm sorted!
Does anyone know what I should so with the defrosted wine? It will be used for cooking in stews, so it won't make TOO much of a difference if I froze it again will it?
whenever i cook poultry i make sure it is eaten within a week. Often there is still meat left 5-6 days after it has been cooked but i will still use it and i am perfectly healthy and fit!! i am aware of bacteria, etc, but i am very hygienic and the meat is kept in the fridge fully covered. Of course if you have reservations then use it or freeze it, but just thought i would let you know!DFBX2016 #160 - £3550/£8800

Cost me nearly £500 to get the car MoT'd yesterday  OH coughed up for half of that but it's a lot of cash that I don't really have. On the plus side the boss brought cookies to work just after I found out so I didn't spend more money on comfort food! Not sure I can save that much on the grocery challenge but at least my grocery spending is reasonably under control even if nothing else is!
Only spend since Monday's big shop is 39p for 6 pitas from Lidl :A Also I'm away with friends this weekend, so food comes from a different budget - it feels kind of like cheating but never mind!0 -

Cauliflower cheese to tea tonight, I seem to have enough cauliflower to last a lifetimehave got some bacon out of the freezer to add to it, to make it a bit more interesting
That's a good idea. I'm not too keen on cauliflower so whenever i make it i use broccoli instead.DFBX2016 #160 - £3550/£8800
