Thanks everyone.
Been debating whether to buy an iphone off ebay but I only want it for the odd internet access in addition to phone calls so didn't want to pay as much as that.
So after reading all the positive comments and helpful information for unlocking etc decided this was the one for me.
Just ordered from Orange via their 0800 number and as an existing PAYGO customer had it for £78.99 with delivery next Tuesday.
Will probably be posting when I try and do the technical stuff as not had any experience in that area.0 -
You don't have to get technical with it unless you want the Orange crap removed
Everything else is relatively straightforward with Android.0 -
Just set it up. Brilliant. Thanks. Also just debranded and got rid of some of the Orange crud. OMG i am becoming a geekanoid!!0

Currently I have loads of space on my OSF 2GB card. If I down load apps where do they go?
To rephrase:
1. Do downloaded apps go to phone memory?
2. If they do, can they be transferred to SD card?
3. How can this be done?
4. See a long thread on other forum on 16GB SD cards. Do you really need this much space and how easy is it to put one in. Does it need reformatting?
Thanks

Apps are stored and installed in the phone memory. They can be installed to the sd card if you use a 3rd party app called apps2sd or similar. To do that though you need to partition the card into 2, 1 fat32 partition for your normal stuff (pictures. music etc) and a linux ext2 partition for the apps so whilst it is quitre easy to do it's not as easy as plugging in a new sd card.

Beansy. Got my phone (OSF) last wednesday. Love it. Did unlock it, removed some of the orange stuff and downloaded some apps. Rusty on here gave me a lot of help. There are a number of people on other forums who have done a lot of work with this phone. I hope you wont be disappointed0

Thinking of isntalling a new ROM on this phone. Currently with O2. Would like to write O2 settings to SD card. How can this be done, thanks0

Download APN Backup & Restore from the Market to save them.0

Rusty, perhaps you can help again. The guides to installing a new ROM appear easier to follow. It is still not clear to me, if i choose to follow one of these methods for putting new ROM on phone e.g Japanese Jelly fish, at some point in time we do we do a backup (is this clockwork?) and can we use backup to restore phone to previous settings if all goes pear shaped? If i have used above APP (APN), if I then want to restore my settings to my new ROM from my SD card, would it work? Thanks0
