Orange Sanfrancisco - unlock - then what?

Being technically dumb, if I bought an OSF mobile phone, then unlocked it, I am with o2, could I then just use my O2 sim? Any other answers about unlocking etc much appreciated. If this has been covered elsewhere sorry.

So if I was to order 2 OSF's. Unlock 1. Daughter is already with Orange, I presume she could just stick her current sim in and off she goes?

This is correct.

The unlock is easy as punching the imei number into an online unlock generator and then putting the 8 digit unlock code into the phone.
After that the world is your oyster. You can leave it on the orange rom or debrand the orange rom to pull it back to standard or if a custom rom takes your fancy then you can flash the phone to that. Then of course the question is... What do you want the phone to do? Then see if someone has made an app for it in the market place.
The OSF is going to be big in the world of Android because it represents amazing value for money. I am waiting for mine to arrive.

If you want to remove the Orange branded crud on the SanFran but don't want to replace the rom then check this thread on Modacao

Some of the Orange apps such as their own Apps store (not the Market Place) can only be accessed using Orange network data connections (not wifi) so if using another network provider there's little point in keeping the Orange apps and programs....I removed the Orange crud and use on Tesco.

Maintaining my dumb level - i assume the rom drives the phone??? I really need a noddy guide to these. In terms of what I want to use the phone for - E-mail, bit of web browsing ( sports results etc), texts, and really who knows until I get one. Thanks to all for replies. As usual, if one does not know, you can rely on the MSE network to help. With a little trepidation will order one tomorrow.

Just followed link (thanks again) to get rid of orange crud on phone. Did say it was simple, I am afraid my brain hurt just reading it. Probably be easier when I get the phone

That site is excellent, i followed the instructions and installed a custom rom on my San Fran the other week

Im not that technically minded, but if you take you time and read the instructions it is very easy to do
