Thanks to the op for this. I've just booked for next Wed to Fri, it's cost just under £20. We live in Stoke-on-Trent so it's only just up the road for us, and even though the theme park isn't open it'll still be a massive treat for the kids. They won't be in school for a couple of days, so that's special for them, and we can visit places we wouldn't usually have time to go to. Might go to Bakewell, Matlock or even the monkey park at Trentham Gardens, which is a bit of a run, but hey, we've got all day!

Soba, I think the monkey park closes for the winter, would check first before setting off!!

Donna - will you get over yourself about the pool business....you are paying £10 for a room in a 4 star hotel. If you are worried about the extras I really think you should consider staying at home !!!

Hey you nasty so and so,

my family have been going through a rough time lately, i appreciate that the room is only £10 and if there isn't a free pool then thats fine we just wouldn't take our cossies and find some other free things to do.

I don't expect the earth for £10, but i just wanted to know what would be free so that we could take advantage of it.

Perhaps if your just going to post nasty comments you should refrain from posting altogether!!

I stayed here with my family in Jan 2005 on a winter break. I was fascinated by the carpets and the lifts - alot of thought really has gone into the design of this hotel. I thought the carpet was particularly impressive on the walkway between the two hotels. :o

I have to agree with the previous poster, the rooms are very small and the beds are small too - but it is a great place to take kids.

I can thoroughly recommend the Monkey Forest - really is enjoyable seeing monkeys not in cages - the babies are soooo cute.

No they haven't, just gone and booked a night for my family about 3 minutes ago. Use the link someone posted on Page 1 of this thread and it takes you there. Going via the lastminute website and searching for alton towers doesn't bring it up.
