I haven't read all the posts here but what I have read has reassured me.
My little boy is 2.5yo and the issue I have is that we have been using cloth nappies fine up until now, he's started wetting through ALL hsi clothes several times a day.
I don't want to use disposables bc we've already bought the cloth kit and it would literally be chucking money in the bin.
    Anyone got any suggestions?

I used microfibre cloths folded into pads as boosters under a liner for my boy's cloth nappies. They hold a lot of wee, you can wash them hot along with the cloth nappies and the best thing is that the "three for a quid" ones from places like Home Bargains are just as good as the dear ones from supermarkets! Plus they make great mopping up cloths for accidents during the early stages of potty training, and as a "first line of defence" in car seats and buggies on top of a piddle pad. Eventually I'll run out of other uses and have to actually do some cleaning with them...!

My son (age 4)n is now potty trained and it all happened by accident......

Last month my son poo-ed himself when we were out in an indoor activity center. I was soooo angery & upset about this. On returning home I asked my partner to look after my son as I did not anything to do with him that day. My son would come to me to talk or play a few times & I would tell him " i do not want to talk or play with you because I am upset that you poo-ed yourself" He also spoke to my partner & he explained to him also.

The very next day my son started to got the toilet himself. He now goes for himself or asks to go when we are out.. We then made a reward chart and this motivated him further.

For some reason me showing my son how upset I was made him decide to goto the toilet when he needed to. Now 4 weeks later he has always gone to the toilet himself or asked to.

my boy is massive too, and well built. he doesn't have long though before the largest size 6 nappy i can find won't fit (pampers baby dry - anyone found anything bigger for kids with wide hips? he's not fat, he's built like a rugby player so i doubt he'll slim down any).
Yes. Pampers size 6 pull up trainer pants are a bit roomier but they're the biggest we found.

I'm really annoyed looking back at some of the advice I got when my son was younger. Remembering him sitting splashing in his wee with no clue that it came from him, being told to keep going with it or it would confuse him, telling me to be strict with him etc etc. I'm really cross with myself looking back too for believing people and putting him through it.

He did it when he was ready, which was not very long ago. He was dry at night over a year ago, his brother went into hospital and he still uses them at night. So what? I'm not listening to anyone else any more. And I won't be giving advice either. LOL

I have tried 3 times with my DS2 (will be 3 in June)- to no avail

I was due DD when he turned 2, so thought I would leave it for a bit in case he 'regressed' tried when he was 2.5, didn't work.

Have tried another 2 times since Christmas and he is just not having any of it. Doesn't help that EVERY other child in my surrounding family has been potty trained by 2.

One time I had him running round in his pants....he went into his drawer and pulled another 6 pairs on. I just let him, thinking he was finally showing some interest....then he peed and OH burst out laughing and said did I not realise the lad was making himself a nappy??? :rotfl:

I'll a couple of weeks before the next attempt - I'm going to try the potty that plays tunes next I think.

My DD has just turned 3 and is only just using the toilet. I kept suggesting it to her for months but she just wasn't interested, then about a week after she turned 3 she said she wanted to wear pants. She's been out of nappies in the daytime ever since. She has never used the potty though - just straight onto the toilet, so the potty has now been binned! The best thing is to wait until the child is ready. It doesn't matter if you know of other children who are potty trained by 2 - it's not a competition! :D Someone once told me that their son was out of nappies by 9 months! I bet there were loads of wet and dirty pants!
  • people have been talking about it again recently - every time there's a school holiday everyone seems determined to crack potty training this time.

i think roo's got rotavirus, so there's no chance this holiday  maybe in the summer if he's ready. i'm going to visit the nursery i've applied to and see what they do about it, maybe he can start with nappies on. he'll only just be 3.
