Give her a torch or leave the bathroom light on, tell her she has to get up in the night to use the toilet.

Also get her up when your going to be to use the toilet.

If she manages to get herself up in the night to use the toilet or has a dry night, make a big fuss about it.

Accept your going to have a week or so of washing the bedding daily, though do use the matress covers you can buy. I use a plastic sheet then a throw away matress cover under my boy's sheets.

Keep a spare towel or blanket in her room, in case of an accident so you can wrap her in it to try and warm her up.

    Hi,

We had the same problem with my DD when we were trying to help her stay dry through the night. We too used pull ups and also suffered with wet beds. Firstly we put a waterproof cover on the mattress, we then kept drinks at night to a minimum and took her to the toilet before putting her to bed, we also as an interim measure put a potty by her bed so that she could get up in the night go to the potty and then get back into bed. Eventually she did become dry and stay dry although at one point I did wonder if we'd get her dry before she started school in September. However I must admit I think a lot of it was her decision not to wear anything at night, she seemed to decide she didn't want "nappies" anymore as she was a big girl and she would get up and go to the loo.

Not sure if any of this has helped but good luck.:p

    Good Luck.

She very rarely wets the bed when she's got pull-ups on - last night was her first night with only pants on.
We got a "special" potty for her to have in her room - one of the chair-like ones coz our only bathroom is downstairs so I want to get her dry before I start thinking/worrying about her going downstairs on her own at night :D

We've already got a waterproof mattress protector on her bed and I bought mattress covers used for incontinent old people to avoid her lying in a pool of wee - I think wet knickers/nightie should be enough to wake her if she does wet the bed :D

If she's wetting that often at night she's obviously not ready yet. Leave her in pull ups for about another 2 months and then try her again.

Each child is different and will be dry at night at different ages. With my first daughter I took advice and waited until her nappy was dry in the morning before trying her and this worked. She did wet on the odd occasion after that but I never got angry or made a fuss and she didn't do it for long.

My second daughter, however, was completely different. Her nappy was never dry at night and it got to the point where I thought Id just give it a try. She went to bed without her nappy and was completely dry in the morning! I found that she only wet if she knew her nappy was on and stayed dry if it wasn' there! We always got them up to go to the loo just before we went to bed too and they sort of did it in their sleep and hardly opened their eyes. We just then carried them back to bed and they went straight back to sleep. Good luck.

My first daughter took AGES to be dry in the day and at night. We had accidents still happening for a year after she stopped using nappies and I got so worked up about it. With DD2 though I waited as long as I could and the whole process was over in 3 days day and night!!

I left her until she was over 3 before I potty-trained her in the day anyway but that was more for my sake than hers - I tried the year before and was getting worked up and losing my rag over it but that was mainly due to the PND

It's just that she's due to start school in January and I don't want to get teased about it :o

I used to cut down on the late night drinks and take mine to the toilet before they went to bed. I lifted them out and took them to the toilet again when I went to bed.

It is hard work and it does take time but as has been said before its patience with a capital P.

    She'll get there. :)

I wanted my daughter dry before she started school in September just gone. Had no luck with it - she will quite happily sleep in a soaking wet bed she sleeps really deeply. I have now decided to leave it a few more months and try again.

Dont worry if she is not dry in time for school - no one will know anyway x

    Good Luck x
