Think I Am Being Done Over?

  • Thank You.

Obviously if she gives them my details the claim will go through to my new insurance company but the incident occurred on my old insurance so if and when they get in touch do I tell my new insurers it was an old incident that was resolved and will they refer them back to the previous insurers or will my new insurance company deal with it?

Why are some people like this? It makes me sooo cross!

Yeah. You changed insurer because it was due for renewal and you thought the incident was dealt with.
  • Thanks again I feel a little more content now.

Just spoke to a police officer friend and he has advised the same and told me that as far as I was concerned the incident was over and that I should leave it to her as she will have to explain to her insurers why it has taken 3 weeks to report the damage.
  • You saw the car after the incident - was there a 'scratch all the way down the car'?

If not, tell her do what she likes - you know it wasn't there, she knows it wasn't there - she's probably scratched it herself, or had someone do it in a car park, now she's trying to get out of paying for it.

Let her get on with it - just tell her to get on with it, be honest in reaction to anything that happens and it'll all be fine.

    Which one is correct?

They both are. Read em'and see. OP's word accepted of course.

Issues like this usually boil down to witness statements, were there any?,
If not and if you are telling the truth, (sorry it has to be said), then ignore
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

    Care to explain that then?

Either there was a scratch which is damage or there wasn't.

If the car was wet at the time is it not possible damage was missed?

I always assume people are telling the truth, if they're not the advice they get from the forum will just be wrong and they'll end up losing out - they can't exactly blame you for giving advice based on what they've said!

About as useful as most of yours, yeah.

Fact remains that you need to report an RTC within 24 hours. The only difference here is that they exchanged details, so don't need to report it to anyone.

The fact also reamins that the OP doesn't need to call her insurers.

However much I hate the fact, it has to be said, You do need to inform the insurer unless you can be 100% sure that there will be no claim as in the 2 parties will come to an understanding.

And even then, you are stretching the terma and conds of your policy.

And how about the issue of saying nothing when you renew?
