Think I Am Being Done Over?

3 Weeks ago I went to pick my daughter up from school skidded in the snow and went into a parked car I cracked my headlight but as far as I could see there was no damage on the parked car spoke to the owner who agreed that there was one light scratch and said not to worry and off I went.
Today waiting outside school was the woman I ran into she told me that (3weeks on) she had a massive scratch along the whole of the car that I had done and she wanted £200 which is what she was quoted for the works. I told her that as we had agreed there was no damage before and she was happy to go on I wasnt prepared to pay £200 for a scratch which in my opinion has miraculously appeared.
So where do I stand? I got nothing in writing nor took any pics on the day as I saw no issue and trusted that that was the end of it.
I am worried this lady is going to try it on as as I was leaving she started ranting about how she was going to make me pay and how she had been trying to catch me for 3 weeks? (Bear in mind she had my details which I left with her on the day on the incident and have had no contact until today).
Where do I stand? And what will the insurers do? I only have 2 years no claims and do not want to lose them.

ws there anyone with you when you first spoke to her?0

No no one at all just me and her and my small child people were passing but no one I could pin point. x0

if you're anything like me your excess is probably more than what she is quoting anyway.
could you phone your insurers and explain the problem, you are disputing the claim and i would imagine that its very difficult for her to prove the issue, phone records etc would show that she has not left messages for you etc. the insurance company would surely have been contacted by her that day if she was going to make a claim.... i bet they werent and maybe havent been because she thinks you're jsut going to cough up the cash
that would provide evidence to back up your dispute.0 -
My other issue is that the week after this incident I renewed my insurance with a different provider so not sure how this will effect my current policy etc if she does claim and is successful (because obvs I will loose my new claims).
Also been on the insurers website where it says you should contact them as soon as an incident occurs so wonder whether that will work against me? But I genuinely did not see it as a claim as there was literally a light scratch at the back to which the other driver just said its fine?!
I will never EVER trust anyone again!0 -
i suppose it comes to the definition of an 'incident'. it doesnt sound like an incident to me as both drivers could discerne no injury to her car?
a few years back i reversed alongside another car in our parking area where i used to live and took off someones wing mirror. i left a note on the car and gave him £50. Should I have reported that?? I dont see why.. but then I dont understand how these sort of things work, its not an accident as such or claimable0 -
She's probably gone away and talked to friends about what happened... And they've gone "You should get some compo for that!!!!"“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

If they got advice from here you had better pay up. LOL.
You either need to agree a repair/fee or go through the insurance and let them argue it for you.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

I think hitting a parked car would be classed as an incident. From what the OP said it's a collision under the RTA. No wonder it costs you so much everytime you set foot in a garage.:rotfl:0 -
If you think she's trying to con you why not turn the tables on her, just deny you've ever spoken to her. If she puts in a claim deny you were there, where were no witnesses tell her she must be getting you mixed up with someone else.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Thanks for everyones advice. I now know report everything!
What should I do now tho? Do I contact my previous insurers and explain the situation or do I just speak to these people direct and pay for the works?
I have never been in a collison of any kind before so kind of feel like im drowning and am panicking as the lady was really aggresive.0
