I would rather use local, but we only have 1 local place, he can't match blackcircles fitted prices, and shows no intention of doing any deals. (he even charges more than ATS to fit a tyre)
So the best option for me is to buy off blackcircles, or mytyres, then pay £10 each for fiting at the local ATS.
edit - that is a very good price, not around the Midlands is it?0 -
We should really have noticed this.

He must be fed up with me by now asking him for prices0 -
CEAT Spider -made in Spain- no E no.
That's worrying, I understood it was a legal requirement for all tyres sold in europe to be E marked. Ceat is an indian company, wonder how they can afford to make tyres in Spain?
I have a Ceat Tornado somewhere, I'll have to check that one. It's one of the few that get really poor reviews so I haven't used it.0 -
Prolly a very old tyre, it's in a corner in the garage.0

We hardly make anything or own anything now no wonder there is so much unemployment
Statistics suggest otherwise

The UK was the sixth largest manufacturing country in 2008! People moan about the demise of manufacturing because we are so good at it, we don't need anywhere like the number of people we used to in order to make the same number of items.0 -

Depends what you mean by manufacturing.
We used to build an item, by assembling the components manufactured in the uk, and then selling the finished product for say £100. So £100 of manufacturing in the uk, and profits to the uk.
Now we buy all the items from abroad, import them, re-badge, and maybe bolt a few large items together, them re-sell it as a british manufactured item for the same £100. However we've probably bought £75 at least from abroad.
So £100 of manufacturiing in the uk, but now £75 worth of imports.
Same manufacturing, but imports increase, and eventually "manufacturing" becomes re-selling. No jobs, and minimal profits.
You keep the country's total up by having bigger and bigger jobs, and all the little ones go.0 -
My Cooper tyres have E11 on, so does that mean UK then? I had a look at my Avon bike tyre and it actually has made in England on it, couldn't see anything similar on the car tyreNothing to see here, move along.0

It means they were approved for use in the EU, by being type tested in the UK.
They could have been made in America, the UK, or China.
The car tyre should say on it, maybe on the other side?0
