I think Michelin have a plant in Scotland and Pirelli in Carlisle, so at least some are made here.

Are you interested in car or bike tyres?
Hoping this year is better than the last. :)

    Need car tyres

    175 65 14

Ideally a British Company making tyres in the UK is what I need.

Avon & Dunlop sound like they fit the bill but are they actually made here?

Tyres have 'E' stamps on them with country of origin, isn't 'E11' Made in Britain?

Dunlop have closed, Avon make tyres in the Uk, but are owned by the American company Cooper.
Michelin make tyres in Dundee, but are French.
Pirelli make tyres in Carisle, but are Itallian.

You could look at the british tyre manufacturers association, but they don't list any.

edit - E is type approval for europe, all tyres sold in europe should be marked E with a number.

I use Avon tyres on my bike and my old car, sure the car ones were ZV3's.

Pretty decent tyres, mate also has them on his Nissan 350Z.

2 locations in the UK for Michelin Tyre...

Michelin are here in Dundee, have been since the very early 70s, they provide well paid jobs in the local community for hundreds of skilled and manual workers.;)

Of course it depends on the size of tyre you're after, they make car tyres in Dundee, but make truck tyres in their northern Ireland ( Ballymena) factory.

hope this helps you, and thank you for trying to buy British and support Britain's manufacturing base....

( can you guess I work in manufacturing?:D)

E11 is UK but I just found that it is country of approval rather than country of manufacture :( but it might amount to the same thing.

I'm all for buying British but when it comes down to safety and performance I'll go for the best product that can do the job over where it was manufactured.
