So on reading most of the lastest threads, am I right in thinking that Sky + is going to be free from February onwards ?? I want a sky + box, as my box is about 8 years old now, so I would like to upgrade and be able to record etc. I don't want premium channels or multiroom particularly, so how is it best to get sky + box without all the other c**p that goes with it ?
Thanks for any help.

Never try to call Sky to ask for 3 months at half price at non-office times. I was told that they struggle to find staff to work atnon-sociable hours and when you call outside 9-5pm the call may transfer through to India and they don't have the authority to do any deals. The staff at Sky are based halfway between Glasgow and Edinburgh are very friendly and 9 times out of ten will always do you a deal without any hassle. There is a free number to call 0800 7316965. This number primarily is to book an engineer visit but will present you with options to find your way through to the customer retntion team. In the past 8 months I have had 6 at half price and 2 at 25% off. Don't let them try to talk you into changing you package, just say you can't afford it. At £36 a month its too expensive anyway, in my opinion £25 is about fair and I will never pay the full amount ever again.0

I've only seen one post re Sky + being free and that read like speculation.
The High Definition Service is going to include Sky Plus functionality, though no doubt there will be a built in charge. You could speculate that will have a knock one effect for the old Sky plus service, but I doubt whether they will offer special deals on the old service at the same time they are launching a new premium HD service, as they will be wanting to get people onto HD
Sky+'s main competition is mainly from freeview Personal Video Recorders, but at present they aren't that mainstream enough. I would predict that in the not too distant future most freeview boxes sold will be PVR's, in which scenario Sky won't be able to charge a premium price for Sky plus.0 -

Check out http://www.saynoto0870.com/ as Sky keep changing the freephone number so this site may have updated freephone or at least geographical number
