Hello all..
I am a bit of a newbie to all this money saving so I thought I would ask you all your expert advice.
My dad currently pays £36 a month to sky for the basic package and Sky Sports 1,2,3 etc. As he has now retired he simply can't afford it !! I called them on his behalf today but they couldnt put me through to cancellations as they needed to speak to him but that was probably just as well because I have no idea how I can wangle him a half price deal for the next 3 months. It seems easy with the movies as you can just say you are getting a freeveiw box and going for unlimited dvd rental or somthing but what can I say (or get him to say) to get a good deal for him with the sports ?
:rolleyes:If you want to get ahead in the Rat Race then you will need some faster Rats !! :rolleyes:0 -
I tried this and it didn't work, they were just going to run through the cancellation.Er...0

You all must have much better boredom thresholds than I, spent 23 minutes on hold and gave up.
Will have to write in and cancel.

Are you ringing the 0870 number- you get through in minutes and the expense of the phone call will be tiny compared to the savings you will make in your first month!0 -

For you to speak on your dad's behalf, he needs to set up a password, which should be something easy to recall, as hopefully you on't be needing to use it too often.
As for half price, just threaten to leave, as it's too expensive and all will be well.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -

I've found another way of phoning these Sky guys for free. All you have to do is phone the FilmFour number 0800 038 5444 and say you're ringing about the free month offer. They ask if you've had the offer before then ask for a reference number ( there is one on page 81 of the Sky magazine that's valid until the end of November ), they then transfer you to the main Sky line. They don't ask for any details from you and once you're through to sky they have no idea where you came from. Even better if you phone out of hours ( say after 8pm ) you get an automated answer that gives you the option of transferring directly to sky. I've used this method for the past two months with success as FilmFour seem to be offering a free month every month. If you get Whats On TV magazine check the inside cover and there is usually an advert there.
I also tried the cancel due to poverty line and got the three months full package half price.0 -
