My OH reckons that there is an extra £10 charge for recording with the sky plus box on top of everything, is this right?

I rang Sky up, told them NTL were offering free sports channels, asked if they could match it, they gave me a 20% discount over the next 12 months, saving us about £8 a month. There's nothing dishonest or fraudulant in that, and the worst they could do was say no.

I've just rang them & asked for sky plus with multiroom but said the box we've got now is a few years old & dodgy so want a new one for the bedroom, she said they'll either try to refurbish the old one, if the can't they'll renew it or we can have 2 sky plus boxes for £98 which I quite fancy, haven't agreed to it yet, just wondered if anyone thought that was a good or bad offer?

  • Firstly,

I have just had my two sky plus boxes fitted, I paid £49 each for them. Their is a £10 charge to record with them but you don't pay this so long as you subscribe to atleast 1 premium channel- movies or sports.

Before that I contacted cancelations and got 20% off for 12 months.......

you do have to pay an extra £10 for multi room byt overall I couldn't be without it.

    :T
    nothing.

Yeah, I think I'd rather pay the extra £49 to have plus in both rooms, will see if I can haggle for any half price months etc first but will take the offer!

    Thanks for the reply.

    Hi,
You all must have much better boredom thresholds than I, spent 23 minutes on hold and gave up.
Will have to write in and cancel.

  • I've been thinking of getting Sky+ for ages (and playing the "need to cut back on my outgoings" card), but was wondering if someone can tell me what's involved when the engineer comes to take away the current box and replace it with the new one?

When I had it installed two years ago, it was treated as a non-standard job (i.e. I had to get a sub-contractor in) due to the fact that the dish had to be mounted on the side of our chimney to avoid interference from surrounding trees. Will this also be the case for the Sky+ box?

Have noted comments about going thru Quidco for £50 cashback - can anyone confirm that this actually works? Sounds too good to be true ...

As the dish is already installed i cant see them charging you for non-standard installation.
