A friend of mine called sky and asked to cancel. He said he got a cheaper deal from a local NTL. SKY were very reluctant to let him go and offered the half price deal, he kept rejecting. They the ASKED HIM would he like SKY+ for £99. He said no, too expenxive. They finally offered SKY+ for 50 quid (an engineer has to come round and change the LNB on the dish) and half price sky for 3 months!!!

Ha ha, called them up and stated above, got it for ahlf price - nice one! BUT NO SKY+ - never mind!!!

what is LNB? Can't you just buy sky+ from ebay and plug it in? Am I just being a little dense here?

Jaghir, did they force him to have multiroom?
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

The LNB is the bit that sits on the end of your dish. A standard installation gives you an LNB with 1 feed. A Sky+ installation gives you an LNB with upto 4 feeds.

Whilst you could have Sky+ with your exisiting (single feed) LNB you wouldn't be able to use the 'record 2 channels at once' feature.

Ah, I see, so it would be pointless having it then. Thanks for clearing that up.

  • I just rang them up to enquire how much it would cost to upgrade from the family package to Sky+. £20 a month extra plus the cost of the box etc, I told them I'd wait as it's too expensive. Maybe I'll get a phonecall offering me a deal. (though I hope it's not the same lady as she was very difficult to understand)
When it comes to thought, some people stop at nothing.........
