Ooh v. good Laurakate, great deal.

I am inspired to give it a go now.
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.
  • We have the full package and were offered the half price deal last year but never got round to trying for it again. I decided that today I would but firstly, I wanted to let them know that we seem to have lost several channels. It started out with QVC going walkies, then a few more shopping channels, then ITV2, ITV3 sometimes and now the first three movie channels have disappeared which spurred me into action. I told the lady about the missing channels and she told me I would require an engineer to visit which would cost £68 (I think) as we don't have the extended warranty). I explained that my dad has just had surgery and I am not working as I am caring for him, so as we couldn't afford the charge, we might as well cancel. Nice lady has arranged for an engineer to visit free of charge, as we are such good customers:D Now my dilemma - dare I ring in a few weeks time to cancel to see if we are offered the half price deal again ?????

  • Hi all,

Well I told you I wouldn't give up, so last night....6 days later than last phone call, rang Sky.

Spoke to a lovely man on the Disney number, and explained that as we had always been with Sky, and that all their good offers are for New customers, and not existing customers. Then I was thinking of switching provider.
He said he understood but although he couldn't grant any discounts knew a lady who could!

.....Cue *Caroline* in Cancellations. (who was lovely)

"How does 20% a month off for a whole year sound" she said.

    Yayyyyyyyyyyyy, £8.40 x 12months = £100.80 saved.

    THANKS MONEYSAVERS! :j :j :j

  • I'd rather try and get the sky+ box offer. In order to get that do you have to mention that you're unhappy at having to pay so much more than new customers for a sky+ box? In our case we've have to pay £260 as we don't/want need multi-room

Yes my basic approach was to start by saying that I've been with SKy just over 7 years now and am still on original set top box. I explained that during these 7 years they have done nothing for me really in the way of deals and if they couldn't offer me something now I was going to leave, as I was very disgruntled. I said I was either interested in the 3 months half price offer they were giving people or a cheap SKy+ arrangement, or both.

At this point she told me it would be £199 for SKy+ and I laughed and she said or you could have a Sky+ box that we have used here for training which is overhauled and installed with you for free with a year's warranty..although she did tell me (nice lady) that more often than not people that pay for this get a new one, as there isn't enough that have been used for training!!

She did try and sell me multi-room, but I was insistent I wasn't interested...

Try and get the 3 months 1/2 price too, you never know!!! I think I caved in too quickly in my excitement over Sky+!!!!

    Good luck

I rang on 08702404040 and then they put me through to the Customer Retention Department (for customers with tension!) after I briefly explained...

Good luck, let us all know what happens...ooooooo good Sky are getting some grief!!! :D

What is the best way to try n get my subscription reduced with sky? I've been a customer some years now, I have the family package I think its £20.50 now its just gone up. I did ring them to ask if they were willing to offer me the same as new customers rather than me cancel, after being passed around a bit the lady told me no they couldnt and it would be a month to fully cancel.

Not sure what to try now, if I cancelled would I still be able to get my ordinary tv chanels through as I have no aerial? And what would happen if I cancelled then changed my mind. I just want to know how likely actually cancelling would get me a discount. Do they keep records of how many times you ring to try get a discount or anything coz I was thinking of telling them ntl rang me as an old customer and offered me so many months half price

I really don't like skys customer service they leave you hanging on the line for sooo long and its premium rate
    Thanx

  • Hi I just rang through to Sky on a free phone number ( found on https://www.saynoto0870.com ) and told them we wanted to cancel as it was too expensive I was then offered family pack at half price. It did take a little bit of time hanging on the phone so make sure you use free number.

Phone the free phone number, tell them you want to cancel because it's too expensive and you are going to try freeview. You will be passed to someone else but stick to your guns that it is too expensive and you want to cancel. You will be offered the half price for 3 months. If in the remotest chance that you don't get offered it (very unlikely), then you get freeview channels through your digibox. The only one I've noticed you don't get is E4. Push comes to shove though, if you think you're going to end up with no Sky, you've to give them a month's notice so if you don't get a half price offer then phone up a few days later and tell them you've changed your mind. You won't have any loss of service. Guarantee though that you won't need to, they'll offer it half price or upgrade you for the same price.
