got the run around today, very annoyed thinking of cancelling now for good,i have been a customer for about three years on the full package.
very angry man0 -
Great tip, thanks! ;D I called this morning and am now on the full package for £20, saving £10 on my usual subs and getting some extra channels to boot!
Any little way we can get one over on Murdoch is very gratifying IMO :P0 -
Anyone tried and failed do not give up. I rang yesterday saying I wanted to cancel and was told OK. They tried to reduce my package but no sign of any offers.
I then rang again this morning, and said I wanted to cancel after discussing it with my wife. They put me through to cancellations, and the very nice woman (compared with grumpy woman yesterday) offered me half price for three months with no obligation after that.
Thanks for the tip. See you all in about three months when we will all try something again!!!LBM 12.09.12 - £53K in debt.
DFD - 11.07.2019 (OMG).
New DFD is 28.10.2018 due to paying the absolute maximum.
Thanks to everyone on the DMP forum, and to SC for helping me out of this huge hole.0 -
Has anybody actually come to the end of their three months? What happens then? :-/to be rich in happiness is worth so much more than to be rich in money.... wouldn't it be nice to have the choice of both though!0

hi - I have just spoken to Sky and have now got my £19.50 family pack upgraded to the full package (inc movies and sport) for 3 months at £20 pm. - what an excellent post from ARB78. I used the ripoff 0870 number but all was done and dusted in 9 minutes so not too expensive - I explained that I could afford the current £19.50 but just wasnt happy with so many repeats etc and hey presto - 'well sir we currently have a special offer available.......' which definately made it sound like an ongoing general offer for all wouldbe cancellations (he offered 'any package' at half price but I could'nt resist the full monty
. All I have to do now is to remember to reduce it back to the family pack in November - after checking here first of course ;D ;D

Would you get cut off after three months and then have to re-subscribe?
I have actually been thinking of cancelling for real for a while now simply because of the constant "no satellite signal being received" and "there is a technical fault with this channel" crap I have to keep putting up with.
I should say to them "I'm not paying £32 a month to only be able to watch it half the time" and see what they say!
I might switch to NTL.0 -
I've just got through on the local number to Customer Services. Told the lady I wanted to cancel, she said ok, put me on hold for a minute and then came back and said "fine, that's it done, it will take effect in 30 days. If you ever want to re-subscribe please contact us. Sorry we are losing your business". Yikes. What should I do next? Reckon I might ring back in a couple of weeks and just ask if there are any offers? Any suggestions guys?0

I just got off the phone, as some messages above, you'll get put through to someone else who'll try and offer you an alternative/talk you out of it. Stick to your guns and ........... half price offer for 3 months.
Superb, more for less - my favourite price !!0 -
After reading this today I phoned sky and had my monthly package reduced from £41 to £20.50 for the next three months in about 3 minutes. They tried to offer me the lesser package at £19.50 to save me money and then discounted this to £13.50 almost straight away. My story was I was I felt at £41 this was not good value given the number of repeats and was not prepared to accept a reduced package and made it clear I was going to cancel. As far as what happens at the end of three months. They have made it quite clear my bill will revert to normal after this time although I can cancel if I wish as long as I give them 30 days notice. This is the first tip I have used so far and if this is the potential saving from only one household item I look forward to discovering many more.0

This is going to sound a little vague I'm afraid, but I think that there is a difference with Sky when calling on the 0870 number. I've noticed before that I'll be on hold forever on the number given by SAYNOTO0870, and then, will try the normal 0870 number immediately after and will get straight through :-/ So maybe it's a different section of the department on this number?
Maybe it would be worth calling the 0870 number and ask to be put though to cancellations to query the 30 day thing and ask what you need to do etc? It's worth a try - they may give you the offer? If not, you can always clarify what offers they have if you change your mind and ask to be reconnected in the future? That may be the carrot they need to offer you the deal??
Sky want to hold on tight to all the customers they can - so good luck ;)"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0
