telly-addict wrote:I just spent 20-odd minutes on the phone to Sky (fortunately it was the 0800 number) but the best I could get was the £49 refurb Sky+ but only with multi-room.
This was after speaking to the supervisor in Scotland - the first person I spoke to had no idea, she put me through to someone else who firstly suggested he knew nothing about it, then said he had no authority to give that offer. The best he could offer was Sky + alone for £259 (£199 plus installation). So I asked to speak to someone that could give the offer.
She did refer to multi-room as 're-locate' and said that this was part of the £49 offer. She said we could cancel after 12 months, to which I suggested she pay the £120 then, if it wasn't so much!
Do they keep a record of these calls do you think? A different supervisor may give a different answer?
Did you speak to the cancelations department as no other department can give you this offer it has to be the cancelations department.0 -
Yes I did ask to be put through to cancellations and that is who I spoke to.
The 0800 number is for the Disney channel and option 1 is for Sky - worth using if they keep you holding for as long as I did!0 -
Try again, explain you only have 1 tv so no need for multiroom and say you will upgrade to package 1J or 1K0

Many thanks to everyone who posted about this.
I just phoned up (using the freephone number) and spoke to a nice man in the cancellations dept. who arranged it for me straight away. I'm getting it installed next Thursday.
I said that a friend told me about the offer, and I wondered if it was possible for me to get the same offer, and he was happy to do that. £49 for the box, and no extra subscription because my package already costs £33.
Thanks again to everyone who posted.Sealed Pot Challenge 5 - #1742 :j0 -

What makes it so frustrating is that we already pay them £41 for the full bells and whistles package!0 -
I have done it..... and it worked, no problems at all !
I used the 0800 number got throught to customer services....... said i wanted to cancell "financial reasons"........ was put through to cancellations...... i came straight out with "actually i want the 49 pound sky plus reconditioned box". The lady knew nothing about the offer....... asked me how i did..... i said "a friend of a friend told me". She went off to talk to her superviser..... when she came back she asked "if i wanted multiroom too"? I said "no" There was no pressure...... i just upgraded from the family package to a mix of sport n movies...... so im now paying 30 quid a month no additional fees.
Its being installed next thursday.
This is Great!!
If i can do it anyone can !
Honestly i was nervous.....i nearly didnt call........ but i held my nerve throughout.
If i can do it........ anyone can!!!

Excellent, just managed to get the £49 sky+ without having to take up the multiroom,i had to hassle them quite a bit over the last two days in order to do so though!!.
A word of advice, the only section of sky that can give you this offer is cancellations so dont waste your time talking to any other area of their call centre, most of them know nothing about it & they will try to pressure you in to taking sky multi-room.
I spoke to one fella from sky yesterday who told me that this offer was originally offered to people who worked in some part/way/shape or form??? for Rupert murdoch & that it must have been branched out to include others.
The man who gave me this offer said that the availability of re-furb sky+ box's is getting low so be quick, there may also be a two week wait for installation, for £49 its worth the wait.
Many Thanks to the original poster of this deal0
