I got the £49 for a refurbished sky+ with no multi-room required last night. I was aware of the offer from another forum. I phoned the 0800 number, got india, was transferred. Asked for the deal and was told that they did not have that offer. However the person was well aware of the offer and so I asked to be put through to cancellations who are the people who do have the offer. I was offered the deal without having to pretend to leave etc, very pleasant chat got it sorted. I needed to upgrade from the family package to get it, i'm now on some package which is Sky Sports 1,3 and Movies 2,4,6,8 for £30 a month. I swopped sports 1 for 2 as I want the golf and not the football which was done with no problem. New system being installed Friday although I could have got tomorrow if I had wanted.

Yes, the only people who can offer you this is the cancellation department so you have to get put through to them.

Am really interested in the deal you were offered. Have been wanting Sky+ for ages, but was waiting for it to come down in price. I have been a subscriber for 8 years and I'm really fed up with 'their lack of offerings' to loyal customers, hence I recently cancelled my movies and sport. I don't know who is more upset, my husband because of the sport or the kids because of the absence of the disney channel!! With your £30 a month package, can you get the disney channel? What about installation, is there a charge for that? or is £49 Sky+ and a new sub of £30 a month your only fees? Does an engineer not have to come out and run loads of new cables? :rotfl:

you don't get Disney with the £30. Installation is free. Engineer has to come out to change you LNB which I think involves another cable. You need to connect your telephone back for 12 months.

For Sky+ you keep your existing dish but they replace the existing LNB for a quad LNB. You need two feeds to the Sky+ box as it can record one channel whilst you watch another or record two channels whilst you watch a previously recorded programme. From memory this all comes down a single “shotgun” style cable. If you go for multi-room you will have a second single cable to the other Sky box. The Sky+ box needs to be left connected to the phone line as does the other Sky box if you have multi-room. The phone connection allows them to interrogate the box to check where it is located and that the software is current. Additionally, with muti-room it allows them to confirm that the two boxes are in the same “household” and that you have not let your mate next door locate it in his houseand use the “cheap” £10 mirror subscription.

I can only say once you have tried Sky+ it is unlikely that you would want to be without it.

I have just taken up the offer for £49 for the refurbished box.
The lady said i would also receive a new dish as well as a new lnb along with 12 month guarentee for the equipment in cluding the sky+ digibox.

The lady was also very helpfull in me choosing my package (k) for £30 a month, and is a credit to sky customer services.

Thanks also to the poster for giving the information.

    Roll on saturday :)

Just wanted to say thank you very much for posting about the Sky+ for £49 offer. Just called up and told cancellation dept. that a friend had just been given this offer, and they gave it me straightaway icon10.gif

Currently on family pack for £19.50, so for £10 extra per month I get the extra film and sport channels and Sky+, which seems great value.

    Great post!
