I called this evening to suspend my subscription as I will be away for the next 4 months. They offered to put me on the basic channel for 68p per month, so I took this option instead of cancelling completely, will be handy if my Dad wants to come round and watch anything in peace away from my Mum!

Tok me ages to find this, well after my successful 3 months at half price I thought I would return to my old family pack, but not without giving it another go, anyway the end result?

    RESULT!!!

I now have SKY+ being installed on Thursday for the princely sum of £49, I finally got what I was wanting, cheap SKY+.

They are offering this offer to cancellations right now so go get them, I coupled it with package 1J which is the family pack plus Sports 1 &3 and Movies 2,4,6,8. In efect I get all those for 50p as the family pack on Sky+ is £29.50 including £10 subscription whereas 1J is £30

What makes this offer even better is that Sky only replaced my knackered old Sky box for free last year after another threat of cancellation due to blocky pictures etc, I can now sell this for more than £49 according to eBay, thus I am being payed to take Sky+

    Hello there

If you call Sky wanting to cancel they will give you 3 months at half price. Me + !other 2 people have just done this and it's a good deal as you get the top package for £20 instead of £40 a month, that's a saving of £60 over 3 months. !;D

Insert from Martin This tip is rightly very popular. !A warning though, while asking for a discount is a great method, and i'm sure you genuinely are considering leaving if you don't get it, so it's fine - !Never lie as part of this, that could be deamed fraud. !

Pray tell me how it constitutes fraud when the law knows no general offence of fraud?

A bit more on the 49 quid deal here - http://www.rpoints.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=105167 - Just done it, a reasonable deal I think.

    Cheers NM :)

I've had Sky since it started (late eighties I think), but I'm genuinely excited about Telewest's knew PVR (i.e. their version of Sky+), which sounds amazing and feature rich - only thing is they aren't rolling it out now until next year (so a sales guy told me). Anyway to cut to the chase, I am moving house soon and so will need to decide whether to move Sky over, or cancel - possibly reverting to freeview - and go with Telewest when they launch their pvr service. Reading this thread though it sounds as if there is a possibility of blagging Sky+ at a much discounted rate if phoning to cancel. Does anybody know how this stacks with Sky160? What's the lead time (we are moving in about four weeks)?

    Tah v. much.

Looks like I will be putting in a letter of complaint. The deal that bloke set me up was only for 3 months. I tried to get it extended but they wouldnt let me, I have to phone from USA myself at the end of the 3 months to extend the offer. Whether it will be that easy to extend remains to be seen.....

I asked for an 01 number as 08 numbers arent accessible outside the UK, he either didnt know or wouldnt provide it, so Ive just tracked down one myself.

I also specifically mentioned the 'At The Races' channel and asked if i would still have this, I was told I would but it turns out that I dont.

Needless to say I was miffed and asked to cancel completely and was told that the 1 months notice would start from today! I said I called to cancel on 10th May and was persuaded to take this stupid offer,so I wanted the notice to start from then but he wouldnt have it... so now I need to write a letter but with going away in 5 days its the last thing I need to be doing

Does anybody have an email address for them?

    Not a happy customer : (

I really did want rid of sky because we don't use it that much. When offered the above I declined explaining that my wife wouldn't let me continue even at half price (I rule my house!). After a 'I'll just check with my supervisor' type moment I was told that I was all of a sudden £40 in credit(?) don't know why. As such I have now got the full package for about £7 a month. If you really are preparedto get :shhh: rid of SKY don't buckle at the half price, they will always welcome you back with open arms and offers if you don't get the £7 a month deal.
