  • Rang Sky last night and initially was put through to the package department. After some umming and ahrring with regards to reducing my package options the young lady put me back to the cancellations department who eventually offered me the 3 months at half price for my full package. " This is a festive promotion" and "because you've been a loyal customer blah, blah, blah". Took a bit of egging on from my end but got there in the end ;)

    i did the same as you not without problems,the engineers came with a recon sky box black so accepted it (12mths warranty) then had to ring them again to say i was having problems with the new box and i also wanted a silver box replacement that i had originally had when i signed up with them its sorted now brand new box ;D thinking of going for the monthly reduction now so please let me know how it turns out. ;D ;D ;D

    I had the free add on (now discontinued) which gave me Sky Sports and Movies 2,4,6 & 8.

    Upon my call to terminate they offered a half price package but neglected to tell me that this did not include the Movie add-ons.

    Despite my protests they are not prepared to budge and I am now left with the sky sports package at half price for 3 months and will decide in 2 months time whether to serve 1 months notice of cancellation. I feel I have been conned into taking a lesser package at half price; still on reflection a £50 reduction is not bad and the movies were pretty poor anyway.

  • After a quick search i found the following information, and it took me 2minutes 56secends to resubscribe, no quistions asked, only security details.

    Hi - my original 1/2 price offer has just finished and I was on notice to cancel (december 15th being the 'turn off' date) - I have just phoned the techy number (08702 420331) and quoted 'happy 3' after a brief check I was offered another 3 months of sky world at £20.50 p.m. - happy days all around - the salesman did'nt mention my previous promotion (which had run out on November 26th) as I was told previously that promos were not allowed 'back 2 back' - so perhaps best to let any previous 1/2 price offers lapse before trying for another. Hope this helps someone - it really does seem to depend on the individual salesperson that u speak 2.

  • After keeping an eye on how people had got on for the last few months with this thread, I took the plunge and called them this morning. After initially being told if I wanted to cancel I had to phone back on the 3rd Januaury as I was too late this month, I made a bit of a fuss and was put through to the "retention man" ;)

    Must admit he was good..very good! I ended up being offered the family package at the reduced rate of £13.50
    for 3 months!! After a bit of deliberation on my part, I agreed to try it.

    So, now I am saving a massive £27.50 per month for the next 3 months!! Huge thank you's to the original poster for this tip, and for all the other words of wisdom
    that gave me the courage to try it myself.

  • What about if you are only about 9 months into the 12 month contract to have sky.
    If i phone up and say i want to cancel was wondering they might say you have to finish the 12 month use!!1

  • JUST CALLED SKY TO CANCEL FOR MONEY REASONS,I AM ON FULL PACKAGE AT THE MOMENT £41.00.HE OFFERED ME FAMILLY PACKAGE AT £9 PER MONTH BUT NOT REDUCE THE FULL ONE AT HALF PRICE FOR THREE MONTHS.
    I SAID NO IF THERES NOT SKY SPORTS OR MOVIES I DONT WANT IT AT ALL.
    HE WAS STUBORN AND TOLD ME WE ARE SORRY TO LOSE YOU AND YOUR CANCELLATION DATE IS 10TH JANUARY. ???

    Wait till 7th Jan: ring and plea again! They told me there is no re-connection fee, or to just ring and say you've decided to keep it after all. Good luck!

  • :'(dont know what i done wrong but when i cried proverty to the notsonicelady at sky she told me she would cancel my subscription with a months notice as i was unable to afford it, so i chickened out and hung up.
