just got the full package for £20.50!!! said i had been off work & couldnt afford it, said kids watched freeview cbeebs & if sport on go to the pub to watch it, 2 shakes later bobs ur auntie. feeling thriftier by the minute. new to this... thanks to all concerned for this deal0

I used to work in the retentions department of Sky (Turnaround is was called back then), and it sounds like not much has changed. I can add a few details to this for you:
1) The agent does not want to give you discounts as they receive bonus' based on the number of clients they retain which is offset by the number of clients they have to bribe to retain. Therefore make sure you give a convincing reason for quitting and never hint at GOGW deals to keep you. If it fails, you can always call back before your cancellation date and reverse the decision. It is also very dependant on the agent you speak to. Personally I was a bit of an A-hole to begin with and wasn't for giving anyone anything - you want to cancel then fine. That was til my stats werent up to scratch and I was forced to give out deals. So if at first you fail with one agent, try again with another one. Their systems were pathetic, and notes left on the system from other agents weren't worth reading, so feel free to duplicate your cancellation call without worry of being busted.
2) This cancellation procedure also works for home repairs. When I was staffed there, the call-out fee was astronomical, so when someone's box broke they weren't too happy to pay the charge for an engineer to fix it. This was a big reason for cancellations so naturally he retention team are authorised to discount the repair or give it out free. This doesn't work if you got your Sky package indirectly from Sky themselves (i.e. set it up through an independent retailer).
3) Finally it also works with moving home. £40 was the fee to have a new dish installed. Just do as before to get it for free.

Was paying £34 per month for sports and a few movie channels and just called up told them I wanted to cancel cause couldn't afford it and getting ear ache from the wife.Told them I watch sports and she watches movies and they offered the full package half price for 3 months.
So I'm saving £13.50 a month for 3 months and getting more movie channels, result.0 -

Wow! I had the full Pkg @ £41 per month just spoke to Gary on 08702 40 40 40 opt 3 then opt 3 again.
Told him kids watch freeveiw and christmas is expensive!
He reduced my bill by 50 % for three months and explained I would have a credit this month and would only pay £6.62.

contemplating doing this myself, but acutaly getting rid of the lot ;D think i would sooner spend my £35 on a couple of DVD's every month...
people mention you still get some channels if you don't have a subscription? is that correct? do you still get channels if you pull the card out as well?

Just rang Sky on 08702 40 40 40, chose option 3 and asked to be put through to cancellations. Gave some lady my details and then she passed me on.
Nice guy came on, told him I couldn't afford Sky what with Xmas and everything and he offered me the family package for 19.50 a month. Told him that the kids have freeview and he said I can watch E4, Paramount, UK Gold, blah blah. Told him I only ever watched the movies and sport but thankyou anyway and I would have to cancel...
...then he said he could offer me the full package for half price for 3 months. I umm and ahhed for a minute (like you do) and he said i had to decide on this phonecall, so I thanked him and said I would take the offer and was very grateful.
Now I have it for £21.50 for the next 3 months ;D ;D ;D
So thankyou to the original poster and all who contributed, Im now £61.50 better off ...
Like I said, I LOVE THIS PLACE ;D ;D ;D0
