The only funny thing about this is that those pair of dopes genuinely believed (there was no joking in what they said) that the FA would appoint some random woman that didn't know the rules of the game. She will have been reffing/assisting games for years at all levels.
I'd like to see those arrogant numpties try to ref even a Sunday league game, they are all mouth no sense.
I'd like to see her try to referee a PL game and try to remain in control when a serious foul is comitted, and the opposing players square up to each other - she would be just brushed aside."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -

That's a rather spurious observation.
Referees do not control the game by physically intimidating players and many male referees are presumably smaller than the footballers of whom they are in charge. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

While a male ref would......carry them off with a firemans lift?0 -
AG: Can you believe that? Female linesman. Forget what I said – they probably don't know the offside rule.
RK: Of Course they don't!
lol, that bit is the funniest - Richard Key's reaction. As if Andy Gray's claim that women are incapable of understanding the offside rule was the most obvious thing in the world. ''of course they dont!'' haha
She done a good job in fairness. But I do think it's been blown out of proportion as always. It was off the mic and should never have been brought up. They're entitled to think what they want. Why dont we just hide microphones and cameras in peoples houses. Every celebrity known to man would be in serious trouble over the course of a few weeks. It was supposed to be a private conversation.0 -
This isn't a conversation between a couple of unknown blokes sat in the local pub, watching the match and having a few beers.
These are well-paid (I'd say OVER paid personally) people in the public eye, public figures who should have known better.
They should have had the sense to know that whatever their sexist opinions are, they should have kept those opinions to themselves - only voicing them when they were sure that there was no chance of being overheard.
They would have been 'ordinary blokes' then.
However, when they are on-air they are the representatives of their employer - not ordinary blokes.
It's obviously impossible to 'educate pork' such as Andy Gray & Richard Keys.0 -
Whilst these 'gentlemen' are entitled to their opinion and might have been totally ironic,I have a 23 yo daughter who has been playing Football since she was 6.
She has encountered prejudice quite often, especially when she was primary school age and a member of a mixed team.
She now plays women's football at quite a high level and she wrote her history dissertation about the development of the women's game and the effect of men on this process.
This incident has set things back in many respects. xx0 -
Not sure if anyone listened to talksport last night but they had Stan Collymore defending them. This is Stan who famously beat up Urika Johnson in a pub and got fired from the BBC for dogging. Though I am obviously a football fan (Goater the man city great), there are lots of unsavoury people in football. Its no coincidence that in all the hundreds of football players there are, I don't think there is an openly gay footballer out there. They know if they "come out" they'll be abused by people like Keys and Gray. Not in public but behind there back. You have to wonder what else these two have said and not been caught on audio saying it.
Despite this though I don't believe they should be fired, maybe if they do something similar again then thats a possibility but a one match ban and a public apology from there is enough in my book. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Is it really so offensive for Andy Gray and Richard Keys to state their views about the female assistant ref. at the Liverpool / Wolves game.
Can people no longer say what they think ?
Ron Atkinson said what he thought and promptly got the sack for it from ITV.

"using a Scotts phrase"
Who is Scott and what did he or she say?0 -
I wonder if the sound man who left their mics up has been sacked?0
