Is it really so offensive for Andy Gray and Richard Keys to state their views about the female assistant ref. at the Liverpool / Wolves game.
Can people no longer say what they think ?

Its just like the One Show sacking Carol Thatcher for comments made in the green roon when she compared a footballer to a Golliwog ! and give her fair dues she refused to apologise saying she had used the comment in respect of his hairstyle and that the term used was in common use during her childhood !
Some people are so thin skinned they take offense at the slightest comments !
Common sense should be the norm ! (apologies to any Normans )A Bast**d I May Be ! I Was Born One !

Can you go into a little more detail about what they said for us non football watchers?I try to help as much as I can. But I'm also honest and speak my mind.

It really is ridiculous how far out of proportion this has all been blown up to be. It was a private conversation that was unfortunately overheard and if you heard someone in your normal day to day life joking about women not understanding the offside rule or not being able to reverse the car etc etc you wouldn't think anything of it. Seems absolute madness that people can get so upset about something so trivial.0

If you listen to the conversation it obvious they are not joking about there views. If what they had said had been racist or homophobic then they would have been fired. Everyone is allowed to have their own views, however if you say something that is socially unacceptable then you have to be careful and if you are caught doing it then you have to be prepared to answer for the consequences.
I feel pretty sorry for the lass, her first big premiership game where she got some close decisions right and the whole thing has been overshadowed by these two. The stick she'll now get from fans at football matches could be terrible. First offside decision she gives that the fans don't agree with they'll be chanting that Andy Gray was right etc. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. No because we have all become a bunch of MOLLIES.
Note to censors.
MOLLIES, from the verb Mollycoddled.

yes it was blown up out of proportion ,but all they did was to make themselves look idiots because she did know the off side rule and made the right call,if they had been doing her job they would have got it wrong.:rotfl:0

What I thought quite amusing was one of these guys commented that somebody ought to go down and explain the offside rule to her - but from what has been said afterwards she'd actually got a very tight decision spot-on.
So maybe she could pop over and explain the offside rule to 2 very rude t0ssers - as they clearly don't understand it.
Personally, I thought the comments made about Karen Brady were even more rude.
As for your comments, Freddie - you walk a tightrope on a public forum with your comments.
That's not the same as 2 well-paid presenters making sexist comments that were overheard by many people.0 -
The only funny thing about this is that those pair of dopes genuinely believed (there was no joking in what they said) that the FA would appoint some random woman that didn't know the rules of the game. She will have been reffing/assisting games for years at all levels.
I'd like to see those arrogant numpties try to ref even a Sunday league game, they are all mouth no sense.0 -
While I think we should all be able to speak our minds re race colour creed offside rules etc to say she didn't know the rule as she is woman is offensive.
I know the offside rule and have seen many a male linesman get it hoplessly wrong, yet not a peep from the likes of Richard and Andy who know inside out every rule of football! Not.
Like one poster said, she wasn't some random they picked up, gave her a flag and got on with it, she's come through the ranks as much as any man.Susie"A woman is like a tea bag:you never know how strong she isuntil she gets in hot water."0
