It's possible they live in a much "better" postcode than you.

Not the case for us, we live in an extremely low risk area of theft.
“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”
  • I have just been through the same process as you for my 17 year old son. I found it mattered hardly at all what type of small car it was, where it was kept etc - the overriding factor was 'male' and '17'.
However we as a family have multi-car insurance with Admiral for all our cars (OH and I plus 20 year old son). OH and I are both past 50 and have 11+ years no claims, 20 year old son 3 years no claims. We asked to add the 17 year old with his car (Peugeot 206 LX 1400). OH and I are named drivers for the car but he is the main driver. At the moment with provisional licence the costs is around £800 (or about £900 FC) when he passes £1100 (TPFT) £1300 (FC).
To say he/we were delighted was an understatement.
So I suggest - rzlosty - that you talk to your parents and see if they would consider this as an option. In the first year of a multi-car - you add the other cars in as their renewal dates comes up - you dont have to cancel existing policies. You all earn your own no claims - and dont agffect the others. Give it a try!
  • Your right being male will costs more

Use the money you have to sue the insurance industry for being sexist and discriminating against you for being male, then you should be able to afford car insurance.

I do this with my mother and her car. Works out much cheaper.
  • The car would be around the 2000-2002 mark. And i have one, there female if that makes a difference.
  • have you tried quotes for when your 18 rather than 17 as i know for my stepson this made a difference on quotes
in the end though despite having 3k saved up he had his lightbulb moment and realised that he wasnt going to be able to afford to buy and run a car so he bought a 125 motorbike and loves it and he still has 1700 left which he is saving up so that he can get a car and insure it when he is a bit older and hoperfully the premiums come down
