If you go through life worrying who likes and dislikes you.

    Whats the point of existing.

Quite agree, and I'm sure any 17 year old would agree too.

    They didn't make a beetle with a 0.8L engine.

But if you go for a classic car, telephone (as you won't get a quote online) Footman James.
Classic Beetle 1100 or 1300, mini 998 is a good choice, but the 1275 is affordable for you at 17 tpf&t.
(They'll do a classic car policy for you, not a mainstream policy)

LOL sorry, ive looked at so many different cars/engines/etc etc etc all the numbers are like one big mush!

But thanks very much, i shall look into that, my dads a bit of a fan of them and has always wanted to get one so im sure he would be quite happy lol!

Do you think the price would be much better? and do you think i could rely on a mini or a beetle for work usage? As im not very handy with soem spanners and a toolbox!

    Thanks

My 17 year old daughter has a 998 mini, 1988 vintage, she uses every day for college.
Starts every day, even through the winter, (admittedly the door lock froze a few times, a bit of hot water sorted that out).
They're going to need a bit of work occasionally, but once we did the bits our's needed for the MOT, it's been faultless since.
If you can't work on it yourself, it's like any other car, you need to know a good garage.
I have a 67 beetle based kit car, that is a bit tempermental at times to be fair, but only as not much is standard on it.
It's happily been to Aberdeen and back from the midlands though, and down to the south coast.
Ring up and get a few quotes for different cars, you will be surprised.
Any other classic cars you like?
(she did consider a Hillman Minx)

that footman james is no good for me, you have to be over 25 and have a licence for at least 5 years :(

And i wouldnt say no to a mini, or a beetle. I dont know a lot about classic cars so ive only really seen them two in mainstream cos i guess there the more common of the classics.

And i guess the reliability is based on the car really, there defo made better back then, or so everyone says!

well its a good idea to try putting your relative down as additional driver if they have a clean license this can make a difference but i would suggest admiral, elephant or bell, i managed to get my bro in laws for £800 first year insurance on a 1.2 clio, how old are you? hope this helps

My son got insurance through Elephant when he got his first car. Putting his dad and me down as named drivers made a difference. My son was still the main driver. I wouldn't try to get someone else down as the main driver though, and yourself as a named one. That's asking for trouble.

That's why I said telephone them.

You won't get an online quote if you're under 25.
They will insure you at 17 though.

Yes, it is maybe a bit shameful you don't know your own mum's birthdate :rotfl: but nothing wrong with adding them as named drivers (as long as they have clean licences. I don't think someone with convictions would do much for your premiums. ;) ) We actually drove his car sometimes so we weren't lying. :)

Always put your parents on as named drivers.
Reduces the premium by a good amount normally.
