Cat litter - 4 indoor only cats

I used this type of litter for quite a long time before switching the OkoPlus I mentioned above. It's good in that it's very absorbent but doesn't clump so you need to change the whole lot frequently making it quite expensive to use if you have more than one cat. At the time I only had one cat using as the other went outside and I would go through 1-2 bags a week.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Chameleon - great, when are you coming over?
Have a really nice coffee.... you can see all the cats and the dog, have a coffee, you know...
Nope, no misunderstanding - definitely told me to feed 10-14 days - first chicken rice only (done that) then when this did not help... royal canin sensitivefor 10-14 days (done that).
After each period we spoke again etc etc.
But as I said, they seem to be geting better now.. somehow.. sigh...
Vet also told me not to feed them raw food as this may be the reason - did not give them any raw for a month, did make no difference and they do LOVE raw meat...0 -

Out of interest what are you currently feeding them and what have you previously tried?
Sorry, missed that.
At the moment they have small tin of animoda carny between them in the morning and another one in the evening OR half a tin of PAH own in the morning and the same in the evening.
Daytime they have dry food (Go Cat mixed with Taste of the Wild) available all day and water.
They get very little wet food as I would really prefer to keep them on dry but Fred will NOT touch it.
I have tried Orijen and Burns before (dry) - they did not like it.
They seem to prefer Go Cat (that is why mixing Taste of the Wild with Go Cat and reducing Go Cat slowly) and they also seem to prefer cheap tins like PAH own - no idea why.
Tried kitten puches before Felix and Whiskas but stopped those long time ago as they prefer adult food and were not that happy with pauches.
Uffffff
Going to scoop again in a bit LOL
They are generally very happy cats, turn the place upside down, have beautiful fur - they look great. Just that poo.. for some reason....0 -
Having the same problem with finding cat litter for two indoor kittens and thought 'I wonder is moneysavingexpert' has any threads on it! This thread is so useful! Thank you
I've been using Tesco/Sainsburys cheap clumping litter and it's rubbish! How they claim it clumps I don't know!
Thanks to all you posting - I'm off to buy some Okoplus!Proud to be dealing with my debts... October '08 - £1840 > July '09 - £0000
Now to save... or not... September '09 - £1800 > July '10 £0000

one indoor only kitty, was using tesco value litter for first month or two, then switch to tesco clumping, £1.99 for 8 litres, lasts me a fortnight. i only have to empty and clean the tray fully once a fortnight. do a quick check every morning and evening, and lift poos as soon as i can smell them! very very little tracking, don't think i'll change. the thing with the clumping stuff is you really do need to have it very deep, i joke to OH that cat's litter tray is like the Alps some mornings with all his wee night-time doings covered over!0

Itselliebel - what does that litter feel like? Is it like a sand texture or more "coarse" please?0

it's coarse, same texture as non-clumping stuff we used, in fact the pellets are probably a little bigger than the tesco value ones were.
cat's litter tray is like my little zen garden, cleaning and raking morning and night, haha0 -
Oh thanks for that - prefer that sand like texture.. but may try a bag to see how it goes...0
