  • I use Bob Martin cat litter... I get in from Asda online delivery.. it's 20L and it costs about £5.... I bought some at the end of November 2010 and last week I bought a new bag for the first time... It lasts for ages!

My cat really loves this cat litter, sometimes I swear she just stands in it for the feeling on her feet when I put new stuff in the tray!

    I think it's worth a try!
Gotta get the debt down from £18,000 and fingers crossed win some comps!

Thank you to everyone who posts advice and comps on the forum, Good luck to you all!! :A

have you tried chick crumbs? its really good to use as a litter, its really cheap too. about £7 for a 25kg bag. its highly absorbent and flushable. Find in farm stores or by searching for "farmgate chick crumbs" its actually a chick food but smells lovely and malty so keeps odours low, I use it for all my litter trained pets! It lasts ages and isnt wasteful.

    I use this too :D

CheeseCat - thanks, I was just thinking my cats poo and pee for England and wondered how people manage to scoop once or twice per day and use so little litter... I seem to be scooping all day long every few minutes and half of the litter box content is out in 2 days max... even if I fill it in really deep....

Feed them less and hide the water...:rotfl:

If you feed your cats 50-75% dried food there will be alot less `doings' in the tray solids & liquids = simples & don't even think if hiding the water:eek:

I was joking about hiding the water of course LOL

3 out of 4 eat dry food but Fred will not touch it, not even treats and I got so many flavours - 3 east it and Fred just sits there and looks... no way he will touch anything dry.

So they get half a tin between them in the morning and half a tin in the evening, really this is not much wet food for 4 cats so mostly dry really....

    (scratching the head)

Filled both trays to about 10cm depth now and the litter STILL sticks to the bottom of the tray while it clumps....

Sometimes I feel like those people that look for gold, with the scoop shifting through the granules.....shaking the scoop.....

    LOL

I discovered u do get what u pay for & recommend Burns Dried & bozita tetra packs wet (mine are getting a treat soon as Petsupermarket are having a sale atm) or Aniconda Carni. When I fed mine Felix & Go-cat there were ALOT more nasty niffs & `stuff' to dispose of!

Try using Aldi's clumping. It's £1.79 for 10L, and it b far the cheapest I've ever found.

How much do yours kick? You could try putting a couple of sheets of newspaper or a cheap litter tray liner at the bottom of the tray. If you're available to scoop alot don't put much litter in, 1-2 cms. The more you put in, the more waste there will be when you scoop IMO.

I have 1 litter tray and 2 indoors cats. I go through about 5L of litter per week (one Aldi bag lasts me a fortnight.) I scoop it twice daily, and whenever I see they've been. Every other day I let them go then scoop out all the remaining litter, take it into the bathroom and wash it. I fill it up in the bath with the shower then empty it into the toilet - that was you don't get any litter in the bath. :)

They do have animoda carny right now - they seem to prefer PAH own though for some reason..hmmmmm

Burns dry I did have, no interest from them at all. Gt Taste of the Wild now (mixed with Go Cat as had a lot of that at home, waiting for the Go Cat to finish).

They kick a lot, right to the bottom. 5 litre bag lasts like 3 days - between 2 trays and 4 cats...

Ok, off to scoop AGAIN LOL

And I wash the boxes the same way - they are too big to do it any other way.. they are the size of a baby bath LOL

I've been using this litter with two indoor cats for almost 6mths now and it's the best one I've ever used, highly recommended!! :j

It clumps beautifully and is also biodegradeable so can go on compost heap or even be flushed down the toilet! The medium sized bag (10litres) costs £7-£8 and lasts me around 6 weeks with 2 cats. The tray is filled deep and I just scoop out the clumps and faeces then top it up 2-3 times a week.

  • Hi Folks

I am new to this forum, but felt you may like to know the cat litter I use. I have has Siamese cats for many years now and have tried so many different litters, but the best on I have found is a 'fullers earth' type. It isn't like sand but granulated. There are several on the market but the best value is "So-Kleen" by Petex. But do be careful, Petex make a more expensive litter under the Petex name, but to very honest it is no different to the on I have mentioned.
Any Pet Shop should be able to order from their suppliers.
I have two cats now and clean their tray twice a day and a 20kg bag lasts me a whole month for about £7.30. And it does clump well.
    Hope that helps.:)
