Can anyone let me know what their preference is between Cats Best and Worlds Best. I bought Worlds Best as I want to be able to flush and also want good odour control. We have just rehomed two 7 month girls and we have a covered Argos tray. Cats Best seems so much cheaper - does it really last as long for 1/3 of the price??

    Thanks

  • If they're got permanent upset tum, something's def not right - have you tried changing the food (gradually) and seeing it it makes a difference.

I've 2 and wouldn't ever go back to anything other than wood based - currently PAH using about 1 x 30L / 3 weeks - as hated bits getting stuck on the bottom of tray.

I scoop AM & PM and, if you'd seen it tonight, I couldn't believe 2 perfectly healthy, adult cats could make so much mess in 1 day and it was a total litter change.

Does your council give away dog poop bags - these are really good for scooping into & easily tied off.

Bought some Co--p litter the other week as ran out of PAH and it was terrible, really dusty and yuk (still got a bag left which I think will go into garage in case of emergency as I really don't want to use it).

Oh I got some Asda's own litter that I got once - smelly, horrible horrible stuff. In a bag in a shed - just in case I ever run out.

The cats were on vet food for 2 weeks, made no difference at all. They were on chicken/rice for a while - no difference. So it it is not food.

They are getting better now though, still not completely solid poo from the boys but better than before - maybe they are "growing out" of it somehow....

I got 10 bags, 30litre each of wood based in the shed (PAH one) litter - when that finished will be testing the clumping ones that I have bag of each...

    Couriers hate me :)

It takes a lot longer than two weeks to establish a cat on a new diet to eliminate any digestive problems. It takes 2 weeks just to gradually switch the diet over let alone give it chance to actually work. You really need to aim for 2-3mths before deciding a diet isn't working. Have you worked with your vet on this?

    Yes, of course.

It was the vet who recommended 10 to 14 days and if it does not work it may not be the food, we already rulled out various things by tests etc (and I got a massive vet bil to prove it).

    Are you a vet?

The vet said it may improve with age and it seems to slowly improve now.

Oh, I have found a bigger Clean N Tidy Multilitter - and in a nice container too:

    AMMultilitter_m.jpg

£13.27 for 12kg + £4.60 delivery (only free delivery with an order over £75) works out £17.87 per 12kg so around £1.50 per kg real price

At PAH it is £5.49 for 7kg bag and much lover minimum for free delivery so really works out cheaper (half price) from PAH.

Why PAH does not do bigger bags though?????

Has anyone used this one or any other silica cat litter please?

How deep you need to fill the litter box with silica gel ?
How do you know when to change it if it does not smell/does not clump?

Could you maybe try smaller litter trays?

    We have this one: http://www.petsathome.com/shop/litter-tray-by-clean-n-tidy-26666
I'm not sure if we have large of jumbo, but there's more than enough room for it to be used by two cats for the day if we're not there to empty it immediately. Although smaller trays might get more 'kick over' I think you'd waste way more litter just filling them. I only use about 2cms, as I know if there's more they'll just spend ages kicking it about. I've heard that some cat rescue centres only put a small amount in the corner of a litter tray to prevent wasting it.

That would be 10-14 days after the transitional period of changing the diet, which again takes 10-14 days if done properly. Maybe there was some misunderstanding between you and the vet. And yes, I am a vet :)

Out of interest what are you currently feeding them and what have you previously tried?
