Working for McDonals..?

Options
Hey everyone,

I'm contemplating working for McDonalds.

I feel dirty even saying that but I'm at uni and really could do with something that is shift work and will work around my two days at Uni.

Is it really bad? or should I look everywhere and anywhere else first? :o

  • You may be surprised and find that McDonalds don't want you.

But at the end of the day it depends on how much you need a job as to whether you consider it selling your soul or a means to an end to even apply.

Oh yes, I know they might not want me, I just don't want to waste their time and apply if I don't actually want the job to start with.

Just wanted some info on what it's like to work there..

  • Never worked in Mc Donald but have worked at KFC for 3 years in my much younger days - loved that job.
People were great (all young and part time), time goes fast in those places as one is always busy.

But I was in a very busy London West End Branch and it was like ermmmm 20 years ago....

I worked at McDonalds part time a few years back, while i was studying at College, there was loads of students working there as well, thinking back now i wish i stayed there because the opportunities for promotion were endless, and my manager encouraged me to stay, but i declined now i am stuck in a warehouse job with no light at the end of the tunnel.

McDonalds workers maybe belittled, and labelled as thick etc,but if you work hard, the opportunities are endless.

i worked in mcdonalds when i was at uni and it was ideal for the hours they could offer
it is a tiring job as you are on your feet for pretty much the whole shift so its not a easy way to make money

    Thanks for that :)

Do you just do one job? e.g. Till work, or do you get rotated about a bit?

I've already got my career path sorted, but I need 3.5yrs work really until I've finished uni, and a job that is busy would be ideal..

I mostly worked in the Kitchen, but i did on occasions work on the till,as well as sweeping/mopping floor and washing the equipment.

I'd be more than happy to be in the kitchen! :D In fact I'd probably enjoy that lol.

Hmm, I'll have to stop being so picky and apply and see what happens..

Does your uni not have a job centre type place?

I don't see the problem working in McDonalds though!

Uni does yes, but I live 33 miles away from Uni, so it wouldn't help me.

Maybe I'm just being a bit snobby and need to just get on with it..
