Mothercare are doing Buy One, Get 2nd Half Price on all their clothes until 13th. Stocked up on new undies, leggings, top and even my hospital nightdress & gown. :)

MiffyMoo - we're scan date buddies. Ours is Tuesday afternoon. Excited and very nervous at the same time; thank goodness for my Doppler although luckily he/she moves all the time so that's reassuring too. Got to ask hospital to write down the gender as hubby not home for 2wks then we'll check it at private gender scan. Talk about testing my willpower!!!

Big hello and wave to all the newbies coming across (especially the TTC ones).

    19+6. Xx

TTC40 - I'm sure everything will be ok but understand how you must be a little gutted. At least it means you'll get to see your gorgeous little baby again soon though. Hugs xx

Don't worry at all - same thing happened to me at the 2nd scan - baby was curled up into a ball - and I went back at 23 weeks and she was laying there chilling sucking on her thumb! Got a great pic so it was worth going back!

Mine was exactly the same. He just wouldn't play ball. A bit like now really lol

Baby wasn't curled - just wasn't for posing!

I'm overweight, which makes the scan more difficult & less clear - the ultrasound has fat to get through!

We weren't asked if we wanted to know the sex - we didn't. With all these extra scans there will be other opportunities if we change our mind.

    Enjoy the weekend everyone.

Hello all - looking like its going to be a nice weekend :)
I've discovered today that I've put on loads of weight - trousers which were way too big back at 10 weeks now hardly fit over my bum (I can't even blame the bump!). Ah well, loads of time to lose it once they arrive I guess...

    Have a good one!

Just to add, TTC - I had to have 3 '12 week' scans with DD because she wasn't playing ball and they couldn't get the nuchal measurement. In the end I had a blood test at 15 weeks for that.

It's very very normal for them not to be able to get all the measurements they need. As someone else said, it's just another opportunity to see baby again soon :)

    P.S, I can't believe you are 20 weeks!!!

I bought a few bits last night, going on hols so was looking for shorts and short sleeved/sleeveless tops. I borrowed my DH's iPhone as if you install the app you get £10 off £50 spend at Mothercare. Did think it was very phone-ist as I have a Samsung!!

I have had to reschedule my 20 week scan as we were looking to go on hols and if I go later the price goes up by £100s!!
I will now be haing the scan when I am 21 weeks, the receptionist was very funny saying it should be between 19+3 or 20+6. I was thought well it's only 1 day more?!

Just need to get a passport for LO, she was very good she sat so still and looked at the photographer only needed one pic and it was done. Not like last time when I had to put my hand up her top to sit her up and DH had to act like a kn0b to get her to look! Well she was only about 2 mths old!! :rotfl:
    Got married 13/11/10 :)

Its funny how every area works differently. My 12 week scan I was dated at exactly 11 weeks and too early for nuchal scan but they wouldn't scan again- had to wait til 16 week appt to have Quad test.
20 week scan my baby was in the sonographer's words "very naughty" and they spent ages trying to look at various bits. Sent me out for a walk and a sugary drink then tried again. still couldn't check face and spine so another appt arranged for following week. Little monkey was being naughty again but using all sorts of positions we eventually saw the bits we needed.

It is strange how every area is different, at my first scan baby was too small for the nuchal measurement, so we had to go again a week to 10 days later and they did the measurement then. Got my 20 week scan a week on Monday, the closer it gets the more worried I am, I keep telling myself the chance of anything major being wrong is very slim but its still at the back of my mind. Very reassuring having a Doppler to use at home as means we can listen to the heartbeat and also hear when she's moving round, as although I've started to feel movement some days it's a lot and other days she seems to be lazy and keeps quiet!

Been out with my cousin today who is a a senior midwife.

I asked if there was anything I should avoid/ do due to low placenta - she said just intercourse! That doesn't happen too often these days anyway!

She also said once you get to about 28 weeks, people (well anyone you want to let that close to your bump) can listen to the baby using a loo roll as an ear trumpet - unless anyone is very bendy they won't be able to listen to it themselves! I know some people have dopplers but just a suggestion for those of us who don't.
