Well winegums room is nearly empty now, parents should be collecting the last bit of furniture from it tomorrow then it'll be ready for more sockets being added, heater being changed, painting etc!

    20 week scan today

Baby was fine although in an awkward position & even after moving & prodding they were unable to check the heart & face. So I am booked in for another scan in 3 weeks. They said it's nothing to worry about - but can't help being a little concerned.

I also have a low lying placenta - basically it's covering the cervix (AKA the route out). We had to meet with the midwife after the scan who explained & gave us a leaflet.

Was pretty concerned but having read the leaflet, 1 in 4 or 5 women have it at this stage in the pregnancy. In 90% of those it will have moved sufficiently by birth. If it doesn't move then it will be a planned c - section. I have to have a scan at 31 weeks to check it. Along with extra scans at 28 & 35 weeks due to being overweight I'm going to be scanned a lot!

If I have any bleeding then I have to contact the hospital straight away. The midwife also said to make sure we always knew where the nearest hospital was if we were away from home (obviously worrying). We're off to Amsterdam for a weekend in a couple of weeks. She said flying isn't a problem - just take my notes & check where the hospital is.

Wish I was just updating with 'all was well' & in reality it is - just a couple of worries.

Welcome to the thread optimistic mummy, I remember you from the ttc thread so it's great to see you here!

So glad your scan went well poppy. I really want to know what you're expecting though! Thank you for your kind words x

Really glad for you too ttc40. I'm sure bubs will have moved in the next scan and all will be well. Try not to worry. if they would have been worried they wouldn't b waiting 3 weeks to scan again x

    Good evening :)

TTC40 - sorry to hear that your scan wasn't as reassuring as you hoped. But it's good that they are being cautious, and keeping you updated with potential issues so that at least you can educate yourself accordingly. I'm sure all will be fine, and the bonus is extra scans! Did you find out the sex? My 20 week scan isn't until 21 weeks, so still have a few more days to wait.

Hi and congrats on your 12 week scan optimistic-mummy. Any yay for being moved forward. My scan showed me as 2 days ahead, but they don't officially change your EDD here, unless its more than a 7 day difference. I have a DD, so will be reusing her moses basket, cot, bouncy chair etc. And clothes obviously, if we are having a girl. The only brand new things we are planning on buying is a car seat and a new buggy.

lozza - well done on emptying the baby's room. Now the real fun can begin :)

Poppy - congrats on the scan, glad all is well. You can us the sec you know, we're not real people ;)

Afm, same old here. Had a nice morning with some mummy friends and their kiddies and then DD helped DH wash his car whilst I had a nap. I think the tiredness is starting to creep back in.

Looks like a nice, sunny weekend again, so have a good one :)

    20+3

    .

Don't worry at all - same thing happened to me at the 2nd scan - baby was curled up into a ball - and I went back at 23 weeks and she was laying there chilling sucking on her thumb! Got a great pic so it was worth going back!
