Re. alcohol, I'm quite surprised I'm not missing cider or wine at all!
However I really miss lager for some reason, especially with a curry or BBQ so I've started buying Beck's Blue (alcohol-free) and it is SO nice, tastes just like normal Becks!
Scan is on Thursday and I'm really nervous - we found out that DH's cousin is expecting but they had bad news after the downs screening. So now it's in the back of my mind. Baby is kicking away but I won't relax until we know all is well.

Sorry to hear that they had bad news :(
Just wanted to say my scan is also on Thursday and I'm really worried, everyone telling me to relax and it'll be fine not helping, I'm so so so nervous!!

    Hi Ladies,

Have been AWOL for a while as been on holidays :j Have had a super time, so nice to get away and relax for a few days.

Everything is going well with me now. The sickness has stopped, just a couple of retching sessions in the last week but I can cope with that. The tiredness seems to be finally lifting as well, I am even managing to get some jobs done round the house that have been very neglected over the past few weeks :o

I started to feel the baby wriggle last week too, and its getting a bit more regular / more obvious now as well. Its my 2nd baby, so was expecting it slightly earlier but am sooooooo pleased to feel it. Such a magical feeling :D DD keeps singing to the baby too, and it keeps kicking when she sings one direction so she thinks its a fan already bless her :rotfl:

Have got a midwife apt next week. (will be 17 weeks) Do they just check blood pressure, urine and listen to the heartbeat? Don't know if DH should try to work from home as we have a Doppler anyways, so he has heard the heartbeat lots already.

Its interesting seeing what you are all buying. I'm re-using as much as pos from DD, so I have the cot, travel system, bedding, car seat etc already. Everything was neutral then and we will be staying team yellow this time too. I don't think we will really buy all that much so I was getting a little jealous seeing all your purchases :o I did buy a moses basket for £4 the other day. I jumped out the car at a red light (DH was driving!) to go in to a charity shop and snap it up. Its a mothercare one and it looks in perfect condition.

Glad you had a lovely holiday Abis, I LOL'd at you jumping out of the car to buy a moses basket!! I gave away my sons so actually bought a mis priced set last year (felt really daft buying it when TTC but I didn't want to miss out on a ridiculous bargain!) there's very few items we need now I just need to get sorting through what we have.

I feel a bit rough today, overtired and stomach quite sore. Early night tonight!

Lol, I think DH was a bit surprised too but I didn't have much time to explain. We pulled up outside the shop, and I said oooo, look that's what type of thing I'm after... And then I was like - hang on a minute - I'm sure that says £4!:j So I jumped out and met him at my mums with my carrying it from the shop.

We didn't have a moses basket for DD as she was in her cot from day 1. But this time I am going to try breastfeeding again and see whether a bit of age and experience might help a little with that. If I manage to breastfeed then I would like the baby to be in our room, but I didn't want to be spending money on a new one in case it doesn't work out again. Also I think we will go to PIL's for Christmas, when the baby will be 4-6 weeks old so it would be easier to take a moses basket than the travel cot we have.

I will need to have a sort out of all of DD's old things too and look at sleepsuits/vests etc. As we are team yellow tho, I think I will wait until after the baby is here to buy new clothes etc. I think I will try and have a little savings account going for things like nappies and clothes in the first few weeks as I don't want to go mad and get loads of different nappies etc. The shops don't close when you have a baby, and sometimes different babies suit different brands etc, or they are a different size than you were expecting (either bigger or smaller). And you get given loads of different things as presents too. So the sensible side of me thinks I will just wait, but the giddy side of me kind of wants to buy a few new things :rotfl:

Hope you feel better for an early night Kscarlett x

Hello! I think I remember you from the TTC thread! Lovely to see that you are expecting! I just wanted to mention that some buggies come with carry cots that are suitable for the little ones to sleep in overnight so no need to bring a travel cot or moses basket if you are away from home. You probably know this already, but just thought I'd mention it. We have gone for a Bugaboo and it is suitable for bubs to sleep in - the mattress feels lovely and comfy! :)

Thanks Lovecake - that'll be me from the TTC board  I was a little boomerang for the place for a while, but glad to have graduated (for good hopefully) now :j

My travel system will be 7 years old now. I don't know if they did the carry cot thing back then, but it isn't the type of pram I chose. This is virtually the one I have (altho this will be a newer model, it looks virtually the same) http://www.mothercare.com/Mothercare-Xtreme-Pushchair-Travel-System---Khaki/452818,default,pd.html The carseat thing attaches to the buggy somehow (will have to have a play with it all and remember how it works!), but you aren't meant to let the baby have a long nap in the carseat type things as they can't lie flat. Or at least, that was the rules back then - I'm sure they've tried to change most of the rules since I was pregnant with DD :rotfl:

I think this board must be a bad influence on me as when I went to tescos a couple of little baby clothes fell in to my basket! DD is an encouragement too so I blame both of you :rotfl:

:rotfl:They change the rules all the time don't they! Yes you are right, they are meant to lie flat so you should only keep them in the carseat for short periods of time. A short car journey or short shopping trip or whatever is fine, but they shouldn't relax/sleep in them. I think that's probably why a lot of the newer buggies come with a carry cot now so if you've been out and about and they've fallen asleep you can just leave them in there. Ah well - good excuse to choose a nice Moses Basket! :)

If the car seat is over 5 years old you shouldn't use it.. The bits corrode and become unsafe, the plastic becomes brittle and cracks.. there are some pretty horrendous videos out there showing what can happen.. and there is no way to tell until it is too late. Also the safety requirements change massively year on year so better safe than sorry!!!

Ooh I didn't realise that - car seats are a tricky one. Does anyone know if there's some way of recycling old car seats? It's such a shame to dump them at the tip once they've reached the end of their useful life.
