So far I've bought one little blue outfit 0-3months from Asda and a matching blanket. All the newborn clothes from last time were neutral yellow or cream as we didn't find out with our first. And today bought 4 x packs of two baby boy bibs this morning from Home Bargains. (The type with a popper to fasten at the side- vowed to avoid velcro fastening this time as after lots of washes they are no longer sticky. And fastening behind neck not easy with newborn) Anyway they were £1.49 for two bibs. I had planned to buy this type if i saw them as usually only velcro type on offer. My two year old likes the pop over style now but we've tried all kinds- he finds the rubbery ones uncomfortable so there are always bibs on my washing line.
I had an excel spreadsheet of everything we needed for our first baby. As I chose the one I want I recorded where I knew to get it from and price. Then as time passed people gave us things, new or hand me down or even carboot I'd record actual spend on the spreadsheet. We spent a lot less than forecast. Family were asking what to buy us very late on which frustrated me as of course you don't leave it til 2 weeks before to buy necessities.2016 MFW OPd £2000, 2015 MFW OPd 3000 then bought new bigger house with bigger mortgage.Beautiful boys born May 2011 and October 2013

I had to go to work today with the button on my work trousers undone, kind of just pulled the zip up and wore a longer vest top over the top. I can get them buttoned but it is uncomfortable. Time to admit defeat and get some maternity trousers i think!
Normally we are very good friends but I think she has taken a joke and run with it. I don't mind people patting my bump and saying things about it..it's the fat jibes and the suggestion my bump is too big for where I am! She's the only one who says it though!
I've got some maternity jeans but I'm finding them big all over..on the legs and bum whereas I have just literally put weight on at the front of my stomach so they seem really slouchy somehow so I'm holding on to my old faithful normal jeans as long as possible. I like them slim fitting and maternity ones just aren't. I've tried tons on too! Ah well...
Lemonmelon...so sorry to hear about your gran. My partner's grandads in a hospice so we are expecting the worse. We visited yesterday and I must admit to thinking what on earth will I wear if I do have to go to funeral. I'm simply going to buy a strapless, black dress from H&M in a size up for £14.99 and bob a short black cardi over it (which I already have). There are lots of maternity dresses on ASOS too but I didn't want to spend a lot on something I won't wear again!
My little baby is moving more and more. Told my partner to feel yesterday and he was creeped out and wouldn't dare! Now he keeps stroking my tummy and I said 'baby will start kicking you know' and he moves his hand away really quickly! I was imagining us both being overjoyed by baby's movements but apparently not :rotfl:0 -
Anyone feeling like a nice glass of cider on a sunny day like today? I have just had alcohol free Kopparberg and it is very close to the real thing! I had mixed berry but it comes in pear aswell0

So sorry to hear about your gran Lemon - hugs x
Toothfairy - the Koppaberg pear ones are lovely too :T Also for those who are not averse to having the odd unit of alcohol as per NICE guidelines "(If women choose to drink alcohol during pregnancy they should be advised to drink no more than one to two UK units once or twice a week (one unit equals half a pint of ordinary strength lager or beer, or one shot [25 ml] of spirits. One small [125 ml] glass of wine is equal to 1.5 UK units). Although there is uncertainty regarding a safe level of alcohol consumption in pregnancy, at this low level there is no evidence of harm to the unborn baby. )" Sainsburys do a very very nice low alcohol cider which is 1 unit for a 500ml bottle and makes a nice treat. It tastes just like normal cider.
Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend and some nice sunshine - I'm not looking forward to going to work tomorrow but am using up some annual leave so have Friday off :j
Oooh PS baby just kicked really hard and I felt it on the outside just wish OH could have felt it but it stopped straight away :(having an anterior placenta I know it will be longer for us to feel movements like this on a regular basis but it was lovely

Anyone any idea how many clothes they are going to be buying for baby?
My mum's employee is having a grandchild and has literally bought clothes upto the age of 12 months for baby. Now I love that idea but of course would like to buy my own rather than having my mum pay for it all!
So, I've started looking and quickly come unstuck as I'm totally stuck on what I'll actually need for baby's day wear!!
Initially up to 3 months I've only bought sleepsuits - 3 for £7 from Sainsburys with short sleeve vests to go underneath as baby will be born in October. I'm then buying a couple of cardis and some hats. I think that's appropriate...
But then from 3 - 6 months I'm not sure...do I buy outfits, sleepsuits, a combo of both?
6 - 9 months I've bought a few outfits and no sleepsuits or vests. I guess as it will be April onwards baby won't need vests under their clothes..or will they? Surely they won't still wear sleepsuits in the day?
I've planned to buy 7 outfits per age group so one for each day. I know they will be sick and dribble so will need a change or 2 during day but at least at 7 outfits I can keep washing!
Some days I just don't have a clue about being a mother or looking after a baby!0 -
I feel like that too! We're going for getting newborn stuff ourselves (suitable for up to 9 or 10lb weight) perhaps enough for a couple of weeks as I don't want to have to be permantly washing and stuff from asda & Primark is cheap enough to get more off, though how many bits well get in the end I have no idea lol. Then we were going to get some 0-3 months clothes but not too many as hopefully if people want to buy baby clothes they'll get that size. That's as far as well be getting - though my mum has already said for Christmas present for baby she'll get clothes which will probably be 3-6 months. Also got my mum and other family friends who are knitting cardigans, hats etc so we won't need to buy many, if any, of them.
Be nice to hear what others are doing as we haven't a clue other than babies grow and make a mess a lot lolAvon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -
Sorry to hear about your gran Lemon.
H&M have some nice simple black dresses which are quite stretchy so might suit?
We now have a pram, off ebay, and it was an amazing bargain. Most of it looks barely used. I know it's quite early to have made such a big purchase (am near 22 weeks) but I couldn't let it go past at that price. Having a pram is another thing that makes it all feel very real.0 -

If necessary- all the supermarkets sell them if you need more.
Note: Car boot sales are great for baby clothes- little outfits, hats etc. Also for bits like highchairs.2016 MFW OPd £2000, 2015 MFW OPd 3000 then bought new bigger house with bigger mortgage.Beautiful boys born May 2011 and October 2013

Thanks for much for mentioning this! I have been craving cider so much but wanted to avoid drinking any alcohol at all (I know you can have x amount but I would rather not) I am off to Tescos tomorrow to look for some! x
Lemon so sorry to hear about your gran xxx
Bangton I think I had 7-10 sleepsuits/ vests and a cardy in newborn, then similar in the next few sizes. I didn't buy any outfits which was a relief as we got given loads once baby was here! I got upto age 6 months before baby was born as I got most things from car boot sales so for 10p per item I wasn't too worried. I found in the early days having extra sleepsuits/ vests was so handy as we couldn't seem to find nappies to fit my son properly so we had loads of leaks (plus as new parents we probably wern't putting them on properly) this time around I might pick up a few more sleepsuits/ vests etc. I can't remember how many I kept from my son and I would like to have some spares with this being a winter baby. At least it will mean I won't have to keep washing them all the time or trying to dry everything indoors! I also want to use washable nappies so will have those to wash/ dry too. I didn't really bother with outfits until my son was much older, he had a few outfits he wore when visiting relatives but the sleepsuits seemed much more comfy in the early days (and dressing a newborn wasn't the easiest thing in the early days!) x
