I bought an Angel doppler on eBay last weekend - should be at my FIL's now though I was hoping to try & test it before hubby got home tonight. I think I'm a bit early to hear it, but worth a try! I think more than anything I want him to hear it - we've both 'seen' it on the 12wk scan but he won't be at the midwife's for my 16th wk so won't get to hear it.

Hi everyone - hope we're all doing well
Have been lurking on <12 thread and feeling for everyone there who has had bad news. It must be absolutely devastating.

I have just ordered a doppler which should arrive at mum's house for the weekend... held off buying it for a while but had some pink discharge since last night and am now too distracted by my anxiety about that not to have it. Am 17+2 so hoping that its just baby wriggling around in there :o though I still haven't felt 'flutters' yet - only really body functions getting all squished in there. I have '16 week' midwife appointment on Monday as well so hoping that I'll get to hear hb then too and get some reassurance.

Had a good session with the genetic counsellor yesterday too and had bloods taken. (history is SiL has recessive condition, spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) which is fairly debilitating so wanted to check if we're carriers) I hadn't realised that the carrier frequency was quite as high as 1in50 in general population for this particular defect so am glad that we're getting it checked out (OH's risk of carrier is 2in3) In the end it was all a bit overwhelming as I'd gone in quite happy thinking that even if its worst case scenario my SiL still leads a pretty fulfilled life, however came to understand that that might not be the worst case and baby could have a more severe type... still tests back in 2 weeks so then we'll know more

not easy on the nerves this is it xx

Can't wait to meet you now baby!

I picked mine up on the doppler from about 9-10 weeks... it does depend how baby is laid though so is hit and miss.

Hi forumgrazer oh no sorry to hear of the news from less than 12 thread, how awful and yes it must be so devastating, and difficult for anyone to know what to say. I hope they have lots of family and friend support to get them through.
Hope your Monday app goes ok so you find out more about the discharge - always so worrying, but it's prob fine! I had a bad bleed on Valentines after DTD and turn ed out to be fine just that I am very sensitive internally at things like smears so being pregnant just excacerbates (sp?) the sensitivity. Maybe this is what you are experiencing?

Hopefully in 2 weeks you will get more info about the SMA percentages, and I hope everything is ok for you with the results.

    Morning ladies!

Sorry I can't read back, the workpolice are out in force... Hope everyone is doing ok, and that all the aches and pains can be managed. Support from friends and family is invaluable!

Well, one week and one hour 'til my 20-week scan! Started to have weird dreams about baby now. Last night the first one I dreamt the newborn size 1 nappy reached right under it's chin :o but the next one was nasty, I dreamt baby only had one eye... really trying hard to push away the worries, cos they won't do me any good, but at night they seem to creep back while I'm not paying attention!

Also really struggling to find work trousers. Or jeans. Went in to H&M and didn't even fit into an 18 (I'm normally a 14). Tried the M&P sale, but 14s were sold out. The racks even in the shops recommended to me are TINY. I must be really fussy or something. Hope I'm not that fussy when it comes to baby :)

Hoping to finally go look at some prams at the week-end. I've been putting it off. Maybe I'm still in denial. I'm really happy to be having a baby, but also still quite freaked out by it. I mean that in the nicest possible way. I'm sure some of you will know what I mean.

Hope you all have a lovely week-end!

Caelshorn - I have a pair of black work trousers from Next which I like. I bought a 14 which I normally wear in trousers and they are fine. I have on Next mat jeans on today (dress down Friday) and they are doing my head in - keep falling down but look OK. But I have heard people say M & S maternity jeans are really good so maybe give them a try.

Hi girlies - Ooo 3 of us being scanned in a week, how exciting!

I've found a mix of bigger than normal sizes and mat clothes are ok. My mat clothes are a size larger than I used to be already!!

I hope everyone has a happy Friday x

This is exactly why I bought one. Initially I really wasn't that keen and didn't see any reason to have one. Then I hear the heartbeat at 16 week appointment and afterwards really wanted my husband to hear it too, and mum because she asked if I had recorded it at the appointment.

I don't think I'll use it much. And I can see it not a very sophisticated device so wouldn't panic if I couldn't hear anything.

Hi Caleshorn, I know what you mean - I was a bit like that and sometimes still am, but it is getting easier though :) Once you have the pram it's a big 'thing' there to remind you all the time :p

Lots of scans coming up - bet you're counting the days ladies!

Slightly painful tummy today, well just below b*obs, guess things are stretching...
