Thats what I said to my OH and not only am I now munching on a hat (!)....I am also £50 worse off (we had a bet on it - although money will of course go to baby fund anyway - its just now I have to provide it!!!):D0 -

Even though I have showed for ages (above the belly button mostly - even from arund 8 weeks - the bloat was up there too!) - I have noticed baby's position has moved up quite a bit in the past 3-4 weeks - been tracking it with my doopler! The heartbeat used to be really down hidden away but now is edging towards my stomach area!
If you google the number of weeks you are and then look at the images - its very reassuring as you see bumps of all sizes - ones much bigger than me, and much smaller also! It put my mind at ease anyway0 -
maybe we should start a bounty poll to see how many bounty predictions were right??
Started! :rotfl:(obviously some of you won't be able to update this until your births but lets see how good it is! LOL!)
Anyone else want to use Bounty Baby Gender Predictor - go here
Snozberry BBGP = Boy (correct)
IHateDida BBGP = Girl (correct)
*BigBird* BBGP = Girl (?)
mrsj28 BBGP = Girl (?)
MV BBGP = Girl (? but willing to eat hat if it is!)
mogwai BBGP = Boy (?)
Feel free to copy and paste and add to!0 -
Hi MV, I didn't realise you had got your BFP again, (late) congrats to you!
I've always heard high and fron carrying bump is about?? And low and spread out is girl? Anyway, I'm so convinced its a boy, I've been calling baby, 'he' already and my scans not til next week! Everyone keeps having dreams that it's a boy, so they have me convinced..also, Bounty says boy
Anyway we'll both be over the moon either way, though I know DH wants a girl..awww
Congrats ihatedida and snozberry, welcome zebusi..maybe we should start a bounty poll to see how many bounty predictions were right??
Baby has started kicking and punching me...it's cute..for now, lol
Thank you Mogwai
I'm only 8+5 so shouldn't really be on this thread yet, but the less than 12 weeks one is so quiet thesedays + I recognise a lot of ladies from here
MrsJ - some prams are extortionately expensive, I should know, we went for the Bugaboo Chameleon which is a lovely pram, but my goodness it's big and bit cumbersome. It cost something eye-watering like £850 too!
Fortunately for us, our very generous parents paid for that for us, and also our car seat. We really were lucky.
The Bugaboo did DS until about 9 months ago when we invested in a McLaren buggy to run him up and down to nursery and the childminder in. Neither OH or I were happy with the idea of leaving a near-£1000 pram in the shed at nursery, and also it is quite big even when dismantled and the childminder was having trouble fitting it in the porch with all the other buggies on the days he goes to her.
I do still use it from time to time, as it is so comfy for DS and it has a really snuggly foot muff (another £90!) which is ideal for days like today, but generally it is sitting a bit redundant in our hall cupboard at the moment.
Not sure if I would go for it again, we'll use it of course with the carrycot when new baby comes, and hopefully by then DS will be ok on a buggy board (god knows how much one of those costs for the BB!) _pale_
I think there is a danger of going overboard with everything with a first baby, and in hindsight we may have bought a few things differently but I would say spend a bit on a good car seat (we went for the Maxi Cosi) and also the ISO fix attachment if your car supports it as it is so much easier to fit in and out than having to faff about with seat belts.Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -

That's useful and interesting, thanks!! I am thinking about going for a Maclaren straight away as so many people I know have invested in very expensive travel systems but only used them for about 6-9 months and then bought a Maclaren. I quite like the look of the Maclaren XLR which comes with a little carrycot to put the baby in for the early days.
Am loving our gender predictor list! I think we should update it to add any old wives tales like 'high bump/low bump', 'sweet/savoury cravings'!
MV - nice to see you on here, hope all goes well at the 12 week scan! It's nice to chat with you on here, and also to hear from ladies (you and others) who have already had a baby and can give advice to us newbies0 -
I think I might have considered the Maclaren myself had there not been that scare a few years back about little one's getting their fingers jammed in it. Mind you that was in the US I think, and they recalled loads and I don't think it's an issue anymore.
I see so many people pushing Maclarens around too which is a good sign!
I really like the one we've got. It's nice and light and really easy to fold and open.
If I can help or advise in anyway on anything, please ask away!Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -

You might regret that... I have at least a million questions:rotfl:
Thanks, though, I appreciate it! I am trying not to think too much about buying stuff until we've had the 20 week scan, but after that no doubt the floodgates will open and I'll be on here ever day asking about how many wet wipes you use per minute and how many pairs of socks a newborn baby needs
Snozberry - thanks for starting that cloth nappies thread, that's really helpful as I have lots of questions about reusables too!0 -
how many pairs of socks a newborn baby needs
LOTS! Because socks never seem to stay on newborn feet. Seriously, the best I found were the towelling ones from Gap - not very MSE, but at least they stayed on. Or Sock-Ons are great for keeping slippery socks on.You can do anything, make anything, dream anything. If you change the world, the world will change.0 -

It will help me too! I am clueless - having been very anti-baby in the past - I have avoided everything baby related - but in the process have very little knowledge now that I am having my own! I am currently very lost in prams and car seats.
I want to be MSE as I am only having one - no reusing - but keep getting tempted by very funky looking travel systems in lime green!:D (and I do like those 3 wheelers - anyone recommend a relatively reasonably priced one of these - preferably with someone that keeps baby lying down as I have heard thats best??? although I'm up for suggestions!)0
