Hi ladies, can I join please?
Been reading for a while so feel like I know some of you.

Just over 20 weeks scan today and all ok, and looks like a girl! Sonographer wasn't' certain but didn't't think there was anything between the legs, so a baby girl to go with our toddler boy!

    :)
  • Congrats Ihatedida!! Lovely news :) Sooo high is pink then, official! I will keep an eye on my tummy then, lol Sparkles wanting to be huge! I do not! Though I've been wanting to start showing, I do not wanna get huge at 4ft 11 i'm wondering how I'm going to look! BUT shakira is only tiny and she don't look too bad at the mo!

Welcome to Zebusi, lovely and lucky to get one of each :) And welcome Metranil!

Has anyone started thinking Names?? I keep putting it to the back of my mind and focussing on Prams instead!lol.
  • We've already put a pram on a baby plan with Mothercare dippydooda, refused to get sucked into the named brands and went with the one I could operate with my left hand (am leftie but have very weak wrists due to carpal tunnel etc.) and that was light but sturdy. It's even got a sleeper cot thing, very cute.

We've got our names picked out for boy or girl too - just hoping no-one steals them in the meantime!

Loving the Bounty predictor thing - it said girl for me, so maybe the sweet cravings do mean something! (Oh gosh, what has happened, I've started believing an internet baby gender predictor based on two questions...... :rotfl:) Today I'm leaning towards not finding out again, although I do quite like the sealed envelope idea.

We've thought of a few names and I think if I absolutely had to choose a name tomorrow for a boy or girl I could, but we might change our minds again! Weirdly the names we like now are not the ones we had always discussed when we were trying for a baby.

    Welcome Zebusi!

We've got a name for a boy, but nothing for a girl. We had trouble choosing a girl's name last time too and I wasn't convinced I really liked the one we did eventually choose, so it was a good job we had a boy :o That's partly why I want to know what we're having this time, so if it is a girl we can put all of our effort into deciding on one, or at least making a shortlist.

Part of the problem is that DH is Mr Conservative and doesn't like anything that's even slightly unusual. I really like the name Niamh, but he didn't like it because it's not said how it's spelt  I also like Seren, but imagine that will be far too unusual for him.

As for buggys, we won't be buying one as we'll re-use the one we had for DS. I've ordered a buggy board so he can hop on that if he needs to rest his legs. We also have a lie-flat car seat which attaches to that buggy and effectively becomes a carry cot, which is nice when the baby is tiny.

One thing I will say is, if you're thinking of having another baby in the reasonably near future, then it's worth thinking about getting a buggy that will convert into a double to save you the expense of buying a whole new buggy a year or 2 down the line. We're lucky in that DS hardly uses the buggy now as he much prefers to walk, we just take it along if we're going to do a lot of walking so that he can have a rest if he needs one - so the buggy board should suit him just fine.

Welcome Zebusi :) And you should just move over here, MV, because you're going to be here soon enough so you might as well start settling in ;)
You can do anything, make anything, dream anything. If you change the world, the world will change.
  • The Bounty predictor said girl for me too, but I'll eat my hat if I actually have a girl!
Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,
You don't even take him seriously,
How am I going to get to heaven?,
When I'm just balanced so precariously..
  • Morning, sparkles im not showing much either, its hard cos you don't know how big you should look at this stage. Its mostly under my belly button and to the right, my mw said that baby is still in pelvic area and your uterus moves up near 20weeks. Haven't thought of any prams yet but will order one after scan. Congrats on pink ihatedida!

BB - I love the name Niamh - my mum's side of the family is Irish so I really like Irish names, but DH has definitely vetoed it, not least because of the spelling!!

We've started thinking about prams, vaguely, but I am overwhelmed by the selection and horrified by the costs! And I am starting to think a lot of marketing for baby stuff is layered with guilt and fear, like 'if you don't buy this ££££££ travel system then your baby won't be very comfortable and will probably resent you forever...'

I just keep thinking that in the 80s I was probably quite happy in my cheap pushchair which was essential a bit of stripey fabric strung between a cheap metal frame :D

Hi MV, I didn't realise you had got your BFP again, (late) congrats to you!

I've always heard high and fron carrying bump is about?? And low and spread out is girl? Anyway, I'm so convinced its a boy, I've been calling baby, 'he' already and my scans not til next week! Everyone keeps having dreams that it's a boy, so they have me convinced..also, Bounty says boy :D

Anyway we'll both be over the moon either way, though I know DH wants a girl..awww

Congrats ihatedida and snozberry, welcome zebusi..maybe we should start a bounty poll to see how many bounty predictions were right??

Baby has started kicking and punching me...it's cute..for now, lol

Lol, I remember my pushchair as well, cheap but it did the job for me and my older brother before me! I've been funding pram buying confusing too, but I've been using 'which' reviews to choose a few then will go test them out soon...

Ps Niamh must be popular as I had a student called Niamh as well and for ages (longer than it should have been) I called her nee-am..lol, the proper pronunciation is much nicer :rotfl:
