:eek:No problem IHateDida - there is so much to think about.
I will be using my littlests car seat which goes from birth to about 3-4 years I think - its not one you can carry so stays in the car. I suppose the ones you can lift out are easy if you need to just pop somewhere quick, but its never been an issue with me, even when I have the other children with me.
Guidelines suggest sleeping in the same room as the baby till at least 6 months - although I have friends who have put their babies staright in their room alone from day one  I guess it is each to their own but I know I would never rest and to be honest I love having them in with me when they are tiny - and yes that includes the grunting, snufflingThey just look so cute asleep.
It is such a short space of time, so although it can sometimes be disruptive (especially when they learn to giggle and find their voice - not so cute at 4am in the morning....) I:D will be doing the same with number 4 . So yes yours sounds like a good plan - am jealous that you have somewhere to retreat to get some sleep - there is no spare room in our 3 bed house with nearly 4 children in!!!! :rotfl::rotfl:
If it is any consolation I had DS1 at 21 - I was a single mum and had never even held a baby before I had him, let alone changed a nappy or made a bottle. We got by and he is now a 6ft 3 well mannered 14 year old teenager who I am complimented on regularlyI made mistakes as I went along (in hindsight) but I am still learning with number 4.
Will let you know how the nappy research goes xxxxx0 -
Thanks SplanK - that's what someone in a baby centre told me, that it's just a brand of fixing and no-more safe than without one as it meant that a bracket just fitted into it. I did think it a bit daft, as why would they have started fitting them to cars if they weren't safer?0

Thats worrying that trained staff are handing out incorrect advice
- either that, or you managed to speak to somebody who were not trained but thought they would try and help anyway and got themselves muddled up.
Just goes to show that you should always do you own digging prior to purchase, esp with something so critical!0 -
Yeah doesn't it just! Both our cars have isofix points so we were going to try and get a seat that would make use of that.0

I take it all back about only buying a cotbed, a travelcot, only buying after next scan....blah blah.....just bought my first baby item - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4363507 at that price I could give it to a friend as a cat basket!!!:D0

For car seats, both Britax and Maxi Cosi have tools on their websites to tell you if their seats will fit your car. I'm not sure about other manufacturers. It's always worth trying before you buy if you can though.
The seat DS is in now fits with isofix, but in my car (Ford C-Max) we also have to use a top tether - a strap that attaches to the top of the seat and then the other end clips onto a hook in the boot. You're probably unlikely to need a top tether with an infant seat, but having used one I wouldn't have another seat of this stage with a top tether as is stops the seat from reclining.
DS's infant seat didn't have isofix so we just used the belt. We practiced a lot before he arrived so that we knew exactly how it should be fitted and it was fine.
We tried reusable nappies with DS but didn't really get on with them. A friend gave us a load of Motherease nappies and wraps so it didn't cost us anything to try. It was mainly the 2-part system I found too much of a faff, so I wouldn't mind giving some all-in-one nappies a go next time.
Wow, that was a bargain for the moses basket, DidaYou can do anything, make anything, dream anything. If you change the world, the world will change.0 -
Yay managed to get a maternity pillow in sale for £10 - had the best nap with it after a very uncomfortable night.
I think my stomach went through a big growth spurt last night, as it was so sore, hoping its done with for a few weeks though as was almost painful at times0 -

Where did you get your pillow from? I'm finding it hard to sleep at the mo as I'm finding it tough to sleep on my side. My tum is uber sore and has been for a week or so now. I have to be sooooo careful when standing up otherwise I get stabby pains. I keep reminding myself that it will all be worth it in the end.0
