  • Saffagal, I know what you mean, what previously would have seemed like a boring, doing nothing day now seems like a lovely break. I've broken up for Christmas now, but we've my sis & her family coming tomorrow, so I've been working hard getting the house in order, still to do some cleaning tomorrow and need to wrap pressies before they come at lunch. I've found this Christmas prep quite exhuasting, not sure if it's that we've been to MIL for past 2 years, or it's the baby tiring me out. 22 weeks tomorrow and now we're over half way it's all seeming a bit closer. I've a definate bump now, but everyone is very pleasant when they comment, not just insinuating I could be fat or pregnant, just straight out with " oh, looks like you'll not be here much longer". As a girl who's always had a big tum it's nice to show it off! Nice idea to photograph weekly to track the pregnancy, nice to see your bump develop.
iHateDida I didn't enjoy telling people (still don't really, just wait for them to guess!) work was cool about it, very encouraging actually, I've worked there over 8yrs, so I think they are happy for me. It's the telling everyone else, christmas cards was a nice cop out, for those who still didn't know, we put "love from Lazywife, Not Lazy OH +1" (well obvously our real names!) and then a little explaining note. For a few others, just suck it up and shout about it, then tell them to tell everyone they know (just make sure you spread the word in the right order... boss 1st!). I hate that feeling of look at me I'm pregnant, now you have to congratulate me for it!?!?!

Can't believe it's Christmas eve tomorrow, looking forward to Chinese Takeaway tomorrow night (family tradition!) and seeing my two nieces, the eldest (4) should notice the bump now, and she's quite excited (we only see them every 3-4 months or so as they live 200 miles from us.).
Is anyone else catering Christmas, or are you all sensible and going somewhere to be dined on.

    Happy Christmas guys & bumps!

p.s. I love the bump band on mat jeans, it makes things so comfy, is it acceptable to still wear them forever after you've had a child?!?! lol
Also OH is very jealous, as I think he likes the idea of comfy elasticated clothing!
  • hey guys, all this talk of maternity wear has got me thinking. I am now 14+1 and am eating like a horse, literally my belly rumbles within an hour of a meal. I am naturally slim a size 8-10 and tiny- 4ft11 and basically I haven't put on a single pound! I guess my tummy looks a little rounder but don't understand why I'm not putting on weight! Have recently had my scan and heard the heartbeat so I know there is a baby in there! Should I be worried?
  • hi, havent been on here for ages it seems.
everyone seems to be coming along nicely i see

    cant believe its nearly christmas!!!

found out the other day i should be induced at 38 weeks or c section, this will be decided at 36 weeks!! so hopefully only 16 weeks to go , if all goes to plan.

Dippy I wouldn't worry, I think it just depends so much on your body shape etc. I am also quite petite (5ft6 and size 8-10) and my bumb has only just 'popped'. I'm 15+3, and even then I still fit into most of my normal clothes. That said I did buy a big bundle on ebay so am going to sort through it today and find some bits that look ok and are comfortable for coming weeks. I think I won't fit in my normal clothes for long.

Dippy I was 8-10 before I got pregnant too but am prob more like a 12 now, so I have been putting on lots of weight! As long as everything is ok with the baby, dont worry about and enjoy it! Im fed up of feeling fat, cant wait til my belly grows huge and I can look pregnant and not just tubby..lol

I think im going to spend some time over xmas looking over antenatal classes and pregnancy yoga classes in my area - I really need to get my head together!

Looking forward to a relaxing evening today, going to watch some films in bed and wrap presents :D

    I've been Money Tipped!
Dippy, don't worry about not putting on weight. I found my shape changed rather than putting on pounds. In fact found it quite weird that my trousers didn't do up, but I weighed the same. If you're only petite, then chances are you'll not get more than a little football bump by 6 months!]

I need to look into classes Mogwai too.
Nice to see you're well Helen. Chinese for Christmas day, sounds easy and very tasty (although I'd miss my cold turkey). 16 weeks doesn't sound long at all.x

Not at all!! I gained 4kg during my entire pregnancy so 8.5lb and my little boy was 9lb at birth x
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

xx Mama to a gorgeous Cranio Baby xx
  • I'm 5'2", before pregnant was 8 stone 4, now 30 weeks pregnant and 9 stone 1. I was worried about not putting on much weight either but my bump is measuring just where it should and the midwife hasnt said she's concerned, so I'm not going to be either.
  • everyone puts on different weight in pregnancy, i weighed myself the other day and ive put on over a stone already, but ive only got bigger boobies and a huge belly, ive never put weight on ne where else when pregnant, people would not be able to tell if they stood behide me, im 5'6 and a size 10 -12.
according to my scan i have a lot of water, but who really knows tell he comes outs.

my sister whos 5'3 and weighs around 8 stone put on 4 stone when she was pregnant and it went everywhere.

When you get futher along in your pregnancy the midwife will measure your bump and if they are worried , they will tell you, so please stop worrying and enjoy your pregnany. and its usually around the 20+ week mark you gain more weight, as baby has not fatten up yet, its just bones and skin at the moment.
  • Hello everyone :)

I hardly put any weight on at the beginning of my pregnancy even though I was eating for England. Once I turned 27 weeks this changed and my tummy started to pop out!

On the subject of maternity clothes New Look have got their sale online up to 60% off and they have a decent selection of maternity clothes on offer. I have quite a lot of my mat stuff from there and found it fits really well.
