oh, and also, has anyone signed up for antenatal classes/started them yet? im not sure if i really need them or if theyd be any more helpful than reading up on stuff on the net..?
I think it's hit or miss. The NHS ones I went to were great. The midwife was hilarious and put everything into perspective and made the whole prospect of giving birth less scary for meIt was also useful to know about specifics about the hospital - ie what they allow you to take etc.
I would go if it's your first pregnancy, you might even start making a network of friends. Personally I didn't, but I know of other people who did. My NHS did a first mums group from when our babies were about 4 weeks old, there were 11 of us in the group and 9 of us became good friends over our year off and we still meet up now we're back to work, so that was definitely worth going to.Baby Giz born 6/2/110 -

Sparkles, has your doctor given you anything to help with the sickness? I suffer from hyperemesis and my doctor has been amazing and I've been prescribed metochlopromide and avomine which seem to be helping a little bit with the sickness x
Yes, I have metochlopromide and cyclizine which are keeping it under control but keep hoping I won't need them all the way along!:o0 -

Ihatedida which doppler have you bought? Is it the Summer one from Argos?
I bought an Angel Sounds one from Ebay. Dodgy Chinese English instructions.....but it was really easy to use and really loud! I didn't think it would work as well as it did but others reviews were good so went by them!0 -
I wish I could buy one but I think it'd end up worrying me more than reassuring me.
Saw MIL tonight and she thinks I've popped, I am feeling quite round!I think I'll be needing to tell my colleagues when I return to work in January or they'll really think I've over-indulged!

Yeah I don't think OH will be too keen, because he didn't come to my MW app this week when I heard the heartbeat, I downloaded an app and tried that-didn't work- but he was worried I'd get hooked on it and start freaking out if one day I couldn't hear it.
Going to take him to my next app though so he can hear it for himself0 -
Evening ladies, how has the weekend been?
Mine has been good, though if I weren't pregnant I'd say probably say it was rather boring! Spent yesterday morning reading in bed, then DH and I spent the afternoon shopping for a new tv from the comfort of the sofa, and spent the evening watching movies! New TV will be delivered on Friday when I'm off so not long to wait for it now
Today again had a long lie in before heading out to a nearby National Trust property so I could see the Christmas displays in the house, and DH could do a walk in the grounds, back home for tea and late lunch. We then spent some time discussing rearranging the living room (will actually do the rearranging on Thursday) before watching some Christmas movies... just about time to start dinner now.
Think it is starting to hit DH that we're really having a baby - DH said to me earlier, Wow, you're really getting big now - as have a definite bump and from the weekly photos we're taking it has definitely grown in the last week! He also said, crazy to think that is OUR baby in there, and before too much longer it will be here.
I've a busy day at work tomorrow but that's me for the rest of the week - Yay!
Have a good day tomorrow ladies,
Saf x0 -

I couldn't get a heartbeat yesterday but I have also read that they can be quite hidden so didn't worry too much - there was some rather strange movement noises like treading water that facinated me quite a bit!!! (could have been my dinner of course!)
I've got to tell work when I go back in Jan - dreading it though as I hate fuss - we haven't even told that many people yet but I am getting quite fat so won't be able to get away with it any longer.
I bought my first paid of maternity jeans today - my goodness they are comfy - I have been walking round with mine about 2 inches undone and continually hitching them up! I don't do skinny jeans - as I'm not skinny enough:rotfl: - but found some fab bootcut ones at New Look.
No more work for me until 7th Jan but we are in the process of renovating a house - which at the moment doesn't seem to be going that smoothly thanks to our now ex-builder.....!
Hope everyone else is having a restful run-up to Christmas!0 -
I've been in maternity jeans since my seven week bloat apart from about a week when my normal ones fitted, I love the bump band - it keeps my little bump really warm. Plus I don't have to deal with buttons or zips one handed (as pne of my hands is in bandage)!0

I love the band that comes with maternity pants as well - soooo comfy
I'm 17 weeks tomorrow and bump is growing a lot (and my poor tum is achy as a result - ow)0
