    Evening everyone :)

Sjoe am I glad that today is over! Had a DREADFUL day at work - even hung up on a patient's relative as the verbal abuse from her over the phone was too much today. On the positive... no more work till next week - Woohoo!!!

Regarding weight, I'm now 23 weeks and have a definite bump and my boobs have expanded and am only 1 kg heavier than when I fell pregnant so there's no right/wrong weight to gain really as our bodies are all different.

In case I don't get back on, have a very Merry Christmas and enjoy your celebrations however, you have them

  • morning!!

hope everyone had a lovely christmas, all done for another year again!! why does it go soooo quick. having a few lazy days with the kids now, as my husband had to work over xmas, which is a shame!! i may get them dressed soon so we can go out to morrisons.( fun)

im getting really bad heartburn again, im being woken up to it at arouind 3oclock.

my next midwife appointment is 4th january - 24 weeks

seems to be going quick at the moment! i was thinking yesterday about xmas next year with 3 kids, kinda made me go warm and fuzzy, but going to cost a small fortune..

hope everyone is ok ne way!!
  • Hi everyone, hope you all had a good Christmas.

OH is back to work today which feels so quick as we've been with family the past two days, our next holiday together probably isn't until April so we rarely even get a day off together until then :(

Getting less tired/nauseaous symptoms now which is great and getting little tugs and stretches which is exciting! Seeing the midwife in a couple of weeks and will get my 20 week scan date, eek!!

Hello from me too! My next midwife appointment is next week - at 17 and a bit weeks. I don't really want to go - all I want to do is go for my next scan - midwife stuff is boring and paperwork based!:D

Getting fatter :( but I did manage to get up on a stepladder to paint a garage door yesterday!

Tempted by the sales online but not buying anything until the next scan just incase..... - and also I would rather not buy yellow/white! (I'm hoping secretly to buy pink whilst OH would rather buy blue!). Actually I did buy a pregnancy for dummies book for the OH as I feel he needs to be a bit more clued up than he currently is!

Anyone bought anything exciting in the sales yet?

I bought some rather fab maternity dresses from mothercare in the sale. Needed to go anyway as I don't fit any of my old bras!

Didn't buy anything for the baby though...
  • Evening , hope you're all well. All the build up and Christmas is now over... We're still having some celebrations though, having some of my brother and sister in-laws round to ours on Saturday so will be cooking for 20!

I've my 24wk midwife apt on Monday - Yay! I'm finally believing this time is it. Also have my next consultant apt next week, on Wednesday... So two days I'll be late into work. But still have tomorrow off too which I'm looking forward to.

We bought our very first baby things today: nothing fancy, just a 3 pack of sleepsuits but you have to start somewhere! Also covered the pin board in the nursery today with the very hungry caterpillar theme, very pleased with it.

One of the brother in-laws gave us our first baby present too, a beautiful pair of handmade Russian bootees that he bought whilst working in Georgia. He he, I did laugh when he said he hoped they'd fit... If they fit when baby's born I'm in trouble as I'd expect them to fit around 6-9 months!

Hope you all have a lovely day tomorrow

Hi all. Hope everyone's had a good Christmas. I had my 16 week appointment with the mw today and got to hear the heartbeat :) It was reassuring to know there's still something in there as I'm not really sure yet if the flutters I feel now and then are baby or just wind :o Also got an appointment for my glucose tolerance test at 26 weeks. Not looking forward to that, I hate Lucozade so will not be impressed when that's all I can have after starving myself.

And I now have piles :( I had them with DS but not til much later on, so seriously unimpressed at having them already. Anyone have any marvellous tips for dealing with constipation? It seems the copious amounts of fruit and gallons of water aren't doing the trick.

I have so far bought one babygro, because it was very cute and I couldn't resist :) We've a lot of stuff in the loft from when DS was tiny, so waiting to see if we're team blue or pink to see how much more we need. We also have car seat, pushchair, cot etc from DS so don't really need much. But I think we'll get a crib this time as DS was a big baby and outgrew his moses basket at around 8 weeks, so a crib should mean we can keep the new baby in with us for a while longer.

Can you remind me the process of finding out if you have to have a glucose tolerance test? Is it something in urine sample or a blood test?

For constipation fybogel is good. I was told by gp it was OK to use in pregnancy, but you might want to check with a doctor or pharmacist yourself.

Are you taking iron supplements because that can contribute to constipation too. I took spa tone last time which is gentler on the stomach apparently.

I'm not sure what the criteria is for the GTT. I didn't have it last time, but the mw said I should this time as my Dad has type 2 diabetes and also because DS was quite big at 9lb 4oz. I'm pretty sure my Dad had been diagnosed with diabetes before I had DS, but it was never mentioned when I was pregnant that time, so maybe you need a couple of risk factors before they refer you. Or maybe it's just because it's a different mw this time.

I've been taking Boots pregnancy vitamins, so maybe they're the problem. They also make me heave if I don't take them straight after having eaten, so I might try something different. I did take spa-tone last time but pretty sure I had a multi-vitamin too, just not sure which it was. Definitely not Pregnacare as that made the constipation awful.

I'm finding it quite odd that I don't see the midwife again for another 12 weeks. They seem to abandon you a bit when it's not your first baby.
