I promise I will never and never had any intention of saying that to my child! Poor lad would be traumatised.
Right I have £120 to spend at Tescos in the voucher swap. I'm trying to figure out what to get with it. Possibly a baby monitor...any suggestions? Or alternatives that I can spend it on - I'm thinking bigger stuff than perhaps I've thought of (not nappies/wipes etc).Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

What things do you already have Twinklie? We haven't bought a monitor as I will have baby in with us for the first few months so I have no recommendations but know a few people have bought the angelcare one. xYou never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

We have moses basket and stand, nappies, bouncer, sterilizer etc, most of which is gifts. Thats about it really, we've got some bedding coming our way apparently.
I want a monitor anyway, because even though we will have baby in with us. If he's sleeping I'd like to be able to leave him where he is and go about my business without fretting (cooking, washing up etc). I'll just feel better if I have one - it's one of those unexplainable things I think.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Yeah I know what you mean chick, we have spoke about getting one but we've both agreed to wait till baby is here incase my Dad buys us one as it's the only thing we haven't bought yet.
I suppose it depends on what you want from your monitor? Do you want video? Do you want to be able to talk to the baby through it to try to soothe them? Do you want a breathing/movement monitor? How far away are you likely to be away from the baby? You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

Do you have your cot and mattress? I'm brain dead today and can't think of stuff needed lol. Think thats cos I just keep looking at boys clothes though
Do you have your pushchair and raincover? Enough blankets and sheets? I know you said your being gifted some bedding but do you know how much? Are you planning on breast feeding, could maybe get a breast pump so you can express? You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

Don't have pushchair yet...but have the money and know what we want. Don't wanna buy newborn stuff just yet because I am getting gifted stuff like you said, same for blankets.
We aren't gonna buy a cot/mattress until we move (assuming little man doesn't out grow his Moses basket too quick). There is no room in the little cottage we will be living in.
We have a funny situation and it's all a bit difficult, so need to limit buying stuff until we actually need it.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

sexymouse are you around?
I've just come back from my 20 week scan and feel really upset. It was a different sonographer to last time and her bedside manner was not at all nice. She was really rough with me. I asked if my mum and OH could come in with me. She said yes to OH coming in, but my mum had to wait outside for the first bit which was fine, but when my OH went out to get her I said to the sonographer "When they come back in would you be able to tell us all if its a boy or a girl?" and she just said "oh probably a boy" without them being in the room! I felt so annoyed that she told me when they weren't there. That was such a big deal to me, something we've been building up to for week and the way she delivered the news was so not the way I wanted.
Also my photographs were terrible. Really blurry, not at all clear, not good enough to show off to anyone, and the whole experience was just not what I expected.
Sexymouse, I know you spoke about gender disappointment, and how it had affected you. I think I have the same. I was 99% convinced already that I was having a boy and would have been completely surprised to find out it was a girl, but when it was confirmed (sort of as above) I just felt really down about it, and I feel so guilty for saying/thinking that when I have an otherwise happy healthy looking baby, and people try for years and years to have babies. I expected a boy so how can I possible feel like this.
I think that part of it is that OH would have loved a girl and I feel as though I have let him down in some way by not giving him what he wanted. I just feel so crap about it, and so guilty for feeling crap. I openly cried with my mum and OH once I got home, and we're considering a 4d scan now for better photos. OH tried to cheer me up with buying some baby clothes but I just found myself looking longingly at the baby girl clothes instead.
Another thing is that OH already has two boys, (one of which has the vilest mother ever) and I wanted my little girl so that she looked totalling different to the boys he already has too. I know thats ludicrous.
How long this feeling last for for you sexymouse?0 -
Big hugs moneypuddle.
Congrats on your scan, and gender disappointment is normal it could last a couple of days however don't worry if you are still feeling this late into your pregnancy, once you are holding your LO it will all disappear and you won't remember what all the fuss was about.
