I think Im just a natural woman. Another woman I know has been given her results today and got 1 in 100,000!

but its all computer generated 'chances' which takes into account the results from the blood test + your age + the nuchal fold, any variable of those will churn out a different result, and I bet if the woman who had 1 in 100,000 went back a week later her result would change ;)

i know of people with a 1 in 10 chance who had perfectly healthy children, its not an exact science and only should be used as a guideline.

Rebekah congratulations for 24 weeks :) i will soon be there and will move to next thred, i will come and keep you company. i think its good the midwife has referred you to physio my doctor just told me to take pain relief. i am seeing my midwife in about a week and a half so will mention back pain again although i see a physio privately regarding my knees so will get her opinion as well.

thanks for all the comments on the leaky breasts lol

submitted my maternity leave application form today so that feels like a weight off my mind. also mentioned to my manager that i dont think i will return full time, i wanted to put her in the picture and not leave it until the last minute.

i hope everyone is coping with their pregnancy symptoms,

    Laura

I did have the measurements done too. My nuchal fold was 1.2 and my risk was 1:20940 but as mishka has said, there are lots of variables that are taken into account, and it is only if you get 1:150 or lower that you're seen as higher risk. Even if your risk was 1:50, it means that only 1 person may have a child with Down's and the other 49 wouldn't. Try not to worry too much moneypuddle - I know it's easier said than done.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Thanks everyone. Also meant to say I'm a natural worrier rather than a natural woman. How weird!

    I am definitely both!

Busy and frustrating couple of days - I think I did get the job yesterday, studio owner was great when I said I was 20 weeks pregnant before the class and afterwards we discussed the possibilities of me starting 1 full day a week in November half term when baby was 10 weeks old (if on time!) or in January if the course started late. I'm a little apprehensive as she is basically setting up a brand new course, but if it doesn't work out, I get maternity allowance and am full time with baby, not 6 days out of 7. Did sound like an ideal job for me and our new family though so fingers crossed :S

But today! 20 week scan was a no go :( 3 attempts, numerous water and chocolate and jumping up and down and baby wouldn't move from being curled up, head down. [and I thought head down was a good thing!] and as I fly off to China to see my dad tomorrow, the scan has had to be rebooked for 2 weeks time so I am on here for a while yet, still not knowing gender and worrying if baby has an abnormally large head as that is all we could see. boo :( good luck for everyone else if I don't manage to get one in China but now I must pack, and worry some more!

    xx

thats a shame, one trick I found worked - and chocolate never did for me - was skittles, baby went super hyper after only a couple :rotfl:

try not to worry and enjoy your trip :)

It's all the pressure of lying on side especially if u not used to t and your knees being tight together no bought a dream genii ( off eBay) and sleep us sooooi good now. Nowhere near as painful hips. Good luck for today student mrs

Yeah, I thought about pillows. I've been using them for the last two nights and things have improved. But it's not just the hip I'm lying on - the other one hurts too! I feel about one hundred years old today. OH works away during the week so I've been happily thrashing around in the bed. He's going to love it when he's home tonight and I turn over like a rotisserie chicken every five minutes and get up to go to the loo forty-six times :D

Student_Mrs I'm sorry to hear that you had a frustrating day. Congratulations on getting the job though, and I hope that you have a great time in China and manage to have a successful scan there. If not, I look forward to hearing all about how your next one goes when you're home.
