12 to 24 week pregnancy thread

I'm obese to the point of being classed as a very high risk pregnancy (I have huge stickers on my notes and things - they haven't quite put a flashing light and siren on 'em but I think it's close)... found the heartbeat straight away at 16 weeks. I can't 100% find it at home with my el-cheapp-crappo doppler even at 27 weeks - but I can usually pick up enough kicks quickly to use THAT as a reassurance (especially now she kicks like mad cos she's cheesed off at being disturbed and I can feel it... we don't like our sleep being interrupted does the little madam - she tried to shove the scan probe away at her scan, she boots the living daylights out of the doppler - I keep expecting the hotel door "do not disturb" sign to be hanging on my belly button one day).
On the size thing - I'm harder to scan in the early stages because of a flabby belly, but I felt movements earlier than a heck of a lot of people - very faintly at 13 weeks... lots of what they say about size really isn't about size at all - but individual cases (and there's of course the medical profession's joy in guilting overweight peple).Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -

You don't by any chance happen to love any form of stationary and love going stationary shopping more than any other kind of shopping do you? If so, I think you *may* be my long lost twin!

I'm 99.9% certain that isn't correct. Unless Wales is different but in England they can only do the nuchal translucency measurement between 11 and 13+6 weeks. If the downs test is done late it is bloods only. i notice the link you have posted doesn't mention the nuchal translucency, it just says they do bloods for down's screening.
Sorry, you're right, my brain was obviously not switched on - it appears that Wales doesn't do the NT test on their standard national screening programme.0 -
I got my bloods on Friday student so I'll let u know the drill hun. I'll be 15 weeks. Then got my sixteen week appt at seventeen weeks with midwife. Oh wants to come hear heartbeat so hope they do. Quick post. Not seen it mentioned on here so sorry if it's been mentioned and I missed it.
Halfords is having a car seat sale plus £10 off if you spend £100, £15 off spend £150 and £20 off if you spend £200.
We just bought a maxi-cosi cabrio car seat plus isofix base for £183 which is the cheapest we've come across anywhere.
Offer ends tomorrow.

I could be twins!! I used to love shopping at Smiths and when I discovered Paperchase - heavenIt would be my favourite type of shopping if we had disposable income but sadly, its just food shopping! I still find it odd we manage to find money for some - cheap - baby stuff.
Thanks for the scan help. I wasn't trying to make people declare their weight, just had read that it could affect doppler but its good to know that it won't.
What were peoples symptoms at Week 14? I think I had my first heartburn today, possibly though haven't ever had it. Plus, where I think a bump would be has been twinging but that may be as I was late today and so rushing without breakfast...
hugs and health to all xx

Thanks RM! Have just ordered the base, as already have the car seat; a friend has one that they have used only a handful of times and it's in mint condition (and hasn't been in a crash).
Our first big purchase for Bump! :j
