A real improvement on the 50% you'd expect with a sheer guess and seeing as sonographers get it right only 80% of the time, there's not much difference between being 'told for definite' by the medical profession and just going with your gut instinct.
I certanly think there is something in that. It seems the majority of mums I have spoke to knew what gender their baby was straight away - indeed, I was adamant from the beginning that munchkin is a little boy and was proved right on Friday!

I'm convinced I'm having a girl. Or an orangutan. Or both perhaps!"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Oooh, a girl orangutan would be lovely - that would you get in the local paper!MFW!

Hi Student Mrs by the way! Congrats on 12 week scan. Tell me more about these parentcraft classes
Don't thing there is anything like that round my area - unless thats what antenatal classes are called, in which case we have a one day workshop run by NHS which you can book after 30 weeks.

:hello: hello back! im glad I'm on your friendly thread now!
Parentcraft classes are our area's NHS antenatal classes. MW insisted I book onto it and as the first one is about bumps and meeting new mums 2 be was distraught there wasn't one in March and I had to wait til April. It's only April 2nd and I'll be 19/20 wks then I think then she said there are 3 or 4 more. Asked about NCT and was told that NHS will do everything they do and that they are a bit hippy-like! All of this after I told her my own mum was a hippy when I was younger as I had herbal mmr alternatives!
Feeling so much better this week (apart from just missing a uni deadline - oops!) It's amazing what a scan can do, isn't it?
And 3 baby to do lists?! What was wrong with one?!

We're being told that our daughters should be nothing more than pretty and meek and into nice things like princesses. Jeez, bring back the 70s when girls wore dungarees and played with toy trucks and wanted to be doctors, not glamour models.
hehe
i have been keeping an eye out for non pink stuff and thank god it is around. i cant believe the amount of places that sell baby clothes nowdays, everywhere seems to have them, really like H & M stuff though:jMarried 16/07/2010, ds1 born 11/08/12, baby due 08/05/20150 -

Do not get me started on this one seriously! I've bought some pink - but the battle I've had trying to find things in reds, purples and the like - grrr! Really want some red stuff because if this girlie has the colouring I had as a kid - she'll really really suit red - but it's been a nightmare!
As for swingy chairs - we have one borrowed (think it's a Graco), also have a bouncer borrowed as well - verdict from the person we borrowed them from was bouncer = crap, swingy chair = godsend to get your hands free for a few minutes.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Lol. Yeah student I want to do the main one for oh as he really wants to but it's a nightmare. Mine was scheduled and I phoned easily to reschedule so u should be ok hun.
Yeah they referred me to consultant due to latex allergy for se reason but I know have a panic on about the treatment I had for precancerous cells and preterm labour so looking forward to having mind put at rest. The starter kit was a newborn avent bottle kit. Has a few bottles in it. http://www.argos.co.uk/m/static/Product/partNumber/3767137.htm?CMPID=GS001&_$ja=tsid:11527|cc:|prd:3767137|cat:nursery+/+feeding+and+bathing+/+baby+feeding+products+/ this is it but only £13 in boots. I also got a Moses basket in pentwyn asda for £15. Bargains pouring in!!love you lots like jelly tots0 -
lol at Big Alfs coment "Lucky MrColourMePurple"!!
OH gone to work and I think he's glad - I made him listen to some - well A LOT of the threads and comments on mumsnet.com, while he was trying to catch an hours kip! Why oh why do I love annoying him.
I'm thinking purple and blue/ green/ red/ white for a boy and purple and pink/ yellow/ multi/ white for a girl. Anything with purple in it will do for me.
Went mothercare today, Maybe it's just London, but the service in there is dismal. I prefer online shopping and just bought a Hetty! hoover from tesco direct for £88.99 going to pick it up today - my lovely pink baby.
It was a difficult choice between Henry, Hetty, James, George and Charles, my gosh the choice.
Another thing - maybe its just London AGAIN, but I didn't even get a foot out of my car in Morrisions car park before I was ambushed by a fortune teller, who gave me a fortune without asking and before I could say !!!!!! is this - asked me for £30 and insisted on walking me to a cash machine to get it. I not so politely told him where he could go instead. Obviously whilst waiting in argos for a couple of stuff i deicided to do a bit of research and came up with a word for word account of my own experience.
Google:
"indian fortune teller scam, Melbourne Metro Area, Victoria"
I think they especially target young women and anyone on there own, so don't be duped.0
