Hi ladies, not read back yet but hope you're all ok. Been to my first pregnancy yoga class tonight. DOn't think my pelvis and lower back liked it much....I can hardly walk now!!! I think it'll probably do it good in the long run though as I could feel it loosening up as time went on, it just then stiffened up when we did the relaxation bit at the end.

Here's my bump at 19+5 (a week ago):

    Hello ladies,
I don't know why I'm thinking about this when I should be looking at Christmas shopping, but I'm curious to know, does anyone know whether any of the bigger baby things, prams, cots, carseats etc tend to go in the January sales?

I don't know for certain as this year will be the first I'll be looking but I presume so as Mothercare, Argos, Kiddicare and Babies R Us have already started putting some of these items into their sales.

    Hello everyone, hope everyone's well.
    I've had bad day :(

I spent today curled up in bed due to passing out in the clinic while having my blood taken. One of the staff members drove me home as they didn't want me walking. Felt incredibly rough all day :(

Then this evening some brats in a car drove down our street with traffic cone out the window and smashed the side mirrors off our car and that of the neighbours. Fortunately there was a witness so we found out quickly and call the police.

Also, Do any of you worry that you may not end up being a good mum? Everyone thinks I'm silly and just being emotional due to the pregnancy because I've always got on well with children but it's not the same as being with them day by day and bringing them up.

I guess they may be right with the overemotional thing - I was in tears last night because my OH teased me about a cup of tea.

*sigh* at least this a rare bad day so far in my pregnancy :)

Aww MrsManda it sounds like you had a horrible day, no wonder you were feeling down in the dumps!

I worry that I'm going to be a horrible mummy as I'm not the most patient of people and DH is even worse. Most of the time though I'm fairly sure we'll be ok!

I most definately won't be doing the yoga again! Shame really as I quite enjoyed it but I could barely dress myself this morning! I'm in agony with my poor pelvis! I've had to wear my trainers to work as I daren't risk my usual heels. Driving was an experience too, almost turned back at the end of our road.

Good morning pregnant ladies (and gentlemen if there are any)!

23 weeks today!! :j Wow it's proper gone quick - only 17 weeks to go!

Wow lisa your bump is quite big compared to mine. I've only just told my employers this week and all thay had to say was I don't look 5 months pregnant, my bump is tiny and not obvious at all - i've only just put on my maternity trousers for work.

DH and i both felt baby kick last night for the first time, it was a very weird experience but very comforting. DH was very pleased, it was so nice to see a big smile on his face.

Not been doing very well on the sleeping front, just cannot get comfortable, I think I'm going to inves in one of those support pillows hopefully it will help but does not bode well for the next 4 months!!

Still coughing like mad and peeing accidentally when I do - really not nice just hope this cough b*ggers off soon.

Hope all you ladies are doing good. Hugs to MrsManda.

Congrats to those who have had their scans.

oh and welcome to the newbies :o

The strange thing is, my bump looks quite big in some things but is actually not that big I don't think. i can still fit in quite alot of my normal clothes and have only just started wearing maternity clothes to work, I was in my size 12 normal ones until last week! I wear a fitted fleece for work and when its fastened you can barely tell, same when i have my coat on. I've bought a maternity coat but I can't really wear it yet, I need a bigger bump as it just looks like a tent!!

Thanks for the kind words everyone, I'm glad I'm not alone.

Can anyone suggest how to cope with lower back pain?
Woke up in a lot of pain during the night. Last time this happened was near the beginning of my pregnancy continued for so long and was so painful the midwife sent me for an urgent scan incase I was having an ectopic pregnancy. Everything looks fine on the scans so I'm not so worried now - it was suggested that it's ligaments stretching.
I don't normally complaint about pain because I spent a lot of my childhood in severe pain but this really hurts.

I've taken paracetamol which hasn't touched it.
(does anyone else feel guilty taking painkillers while pregnant even though there's no evidence paracetamol can cause a problem?)
A hot bath helped a little but I can't spend all day in the bath ;)
I'm currently sat upright with a pillow behind my back and keep getting dizzy and feeling like I want to vomit. Any ideas how to reduce/stop the pain?

I feel like all I do on here is moan so I do apologise but you're all such a good source of information and support and it's nice to know I'm not alone :)

    hugs to everyone

MrsManda, I wish I could help but I appear to be in the same boat today after my yoga session!!! I want to go home!!! I haven't taken any paracetamol. I know its meant to be safe but I still don't like too unless I REALLY have to!

Goppers it must feel amazing to feel the kicks :)

As for sleeping, my friend has been using a Body Plus Sleep Pillow from Mothercare since she was ~12 weeks pregnant, she's convinced it's the reason she's not gone completely dodally with lack of sleep.

My OH has said if I end up needing one he's going to start sleeping in the spare room so I have more space and he can get some sleep himself ;)

Lisa26, lots of hugs. I understand about the paracetamol, really hate taking it but I woke in tears at 5am and figured there was no chance I'd be able to cope for the day without something. I limit myself to a maximum of 1 dose a day and only take it when I can't find an alternative. Lying on a hot water bottle helps a little. Sorry yoga hasn't worked for you :( are you going to try any other classes?

    when did you start showing?
My OH is really looking forward to me showing as it means he'll get a daily reminder it's really happening, I'm not so convinced - my mum and aunt both ended up HUGE with excess fluid. Breasts are definitely getting bigger, will have to get measured for a new bra soon.

I don't like taking paracetamol either. Not just because it is a painkiller, but because most often it does absolutely nothing to the pain I am having. It seems that if you complain of anything these days you have to take paracetamol or ibuprofen (not when pregnant) and if this doesn't hep, doctors just shrug the shoulders as this is supposed to solve all your problems.

I have a hip pain, which really gets on sometimes, and I am not sure what makes it worse apart from more walking, s it seems sometimes if I put my foot different way it is much worse, but if I try to replicate the same on purpose, it doesn't work! Annoying, as I can't explain to doctor then what it is, and he decided it is a mild sciatica (right in the hip joint ????). I do get back pain, and regularly wake up at night with the pain in either hip (especially if I was lying on that side) or back. Haven't found anything that makes it much better. I tried sleeping with the towel rolled under the waist, pillow between the knees, and can't say that anything helped. Sorry...

I am 14w+3 and I think I am showing. It is not big enough for others too see much, as I have never been very slim, and I am in maternity trousers now for about 3 weeks, also got some loose tops, and wasn't wearing tight cloths before anyway, I can really see it when I put mu pyjama in the evening though! I think it came out quite a bit more over the last week, so I can't wait to see how much it will be visible in 10 days when I go back home! My parents haven't seen me since we got the news, and I still haven't told my friends back home, so it is going to be a surprise for them! (Well, some of them announced to me be meeting up with their bump clearly visible at 4 months!)
