I can't believe how much the cost of the scan photos are for a lot of you  We got 3 at 9 weeks, 3 at 13 weeks and 2 at 20, all FREE.

My other appointments with the consultant, I didn't receive any, with the exception of the female consultant, who printed a cheeky one for me :o

  • Hi guys,

    Looking for opinions.

Had some brown mucus discharge ( sorry - TMI! ) today and pain in lower tummy. Went to walk in clinic, tested urine and said got an infection.

Lower tummy is sore as is lower back, but have synthesis pubis dysfunction so didn't really pay attention.

Anyway, have got scan at EPU thursday morning so will find out if bleeding/any problems for baby and the nurse said needed antibiotics for infection.

I said I would rather try to fight it off without tablets as worried about what it will do to the baby ( when asked if tablets safe she said none are ) but tonight in more pain and now am worried as may have had infection for a awhile and not noticed among the other pains!

Should I go back to the doctors tomorrow or am I being an annoying first timer? Now I am worried an infection harm the baby more than taking antibiotics. ( I know I should have asked this nurse this but I was all flustered at the time! )

If a UTI isn't treated with something it can get worse and move to the kidneys, if it does you are at risk of premature labour. I would take the anti biotic if you can get it, normally even after a few days it clears.

At the moment all you can do is drink as much water as you can to try and "flush" it out.

Wouldn't worry about the aches and pains, or the discharge, they all sound like normal symptoms of quite a severe UTI to me.

I would say, if you need them, take them. Long as the doctor knows, they'll give you the most appropriate one they can. I had to have some in the early weeks, and of course I worried too.
  • I am just extra paranoid as when I had my missed miscarriage I was admitted to hospital with bad pain and heavy bleeding. They took some urine, did a pregnancy test and tested for infection they told me it was a UTI and that I wasn't pregnant and the blood was coming from my urethra (they didn't examine me and I know what is what ) and sent me home. Next day I found out what is was (which I knew myself) at the doctors. I didn't know I was pregnant but it came as a huge blow to me. I was so angry.

Now I am just worried it is all happening again. I know it is really stupid but it is all a bit too similar.

But hey, at least the nurse knew the difference between my urethra and my vagina :) Silver lining and all that.

If you can then, ask them to send your urine sample to the lab, that way they'l be 100% sure before you agree to taking any anti biotics. I thought I had a UTI a few weeks ago and had to fight for them to send my urine away, because there were no signs of sugar or protein, not heard anything since so I'm assuming it was nothing.

I understand why you feel the way you do, and I'm sorry for your loss :(

If you can go back to the Docs tomorrow, I wouldn't be bothered about being an annoying first timer, with already having a loss (explain this to the doc) the stress and worry isn't good for you and bean either. I hope you can get it cleared up soon xxx

Morning all!! Just posting an updated scan list - i've taken out those that heave reported back from their scans (I think they are supposed to be removed!). Good luck to those having their scan this week!! xx

PS, I'm nearly 22 weeks now and still not really feeling any movement, I'm hoping its the anterior placenta I've got as baby was kicking like mad at the scan last week and I wasn't feeling a thing... keeping positive.

    Gops xx
