Can I ask which brand of bottles people are going for? I've not bought a steriliser yet, as I'm guessing it's supposed to match your brand of bottles? I'm hoping to breastfeed, but guess that I'll need some bottles after the first couple of weeks for expressing and would need to sterilise dummies anyway so would need the steriliser. Any advice ladies? :)
Sorry for butting in, not pregnant, just bored. I planned on BFing and thankfully it did go to plan. But I bought the Tommee Tippee hand pump, it comes with a microwave steriliser (it's really just a tupperware box) that fits the pump and a bottle. Mine came with a bottle as well and then I got some other bottles from freebies etc along the way in my pregnancy. You can usually pick these up for £12 in the Asda/Tesco baby events. I wouldn't go spending money on loads of bottles etc if you want to give BFing a go. You won't need that much even for expressing.

My favourate pair of black OTB trousers are from next- the ones with a self fold band. Soooooo comfy, and have seen me through from 20weeks and still going fine at 34 weeks.

Thanks Kira, I had looked in my brother's Next catalogue and didn't see those. Are they wide legged or a bit more fitted? its quite hard to tell from the pics.

Just heard about the DP 30% off so I'm headed to town tomorrow to buy my first maternity clothes! I'm 17 weeks but not really showing, just uncomfy in my skinny jeans so I'm going to settle for some over the bump leggings that I can grow into instead :D

I'm currently wearing a very old big coat I bought to wear over a suit to work years ago, but I feel frumpy in it, that coat is lovely Lisa, really smart too, I'm jealous, I'm super tall and when I tried it on the sleeves were much too short darn it!

Tonight I felt three very definate movements, like baby was turning cartwheels in there, I had a little smile and stayed still hoping for more, can't wait to feel regular movements!

Amymo, hope you see this before you go, the 30% off was only instore on thurs/Fri, its now only online. If it helps you for ordering online I found their tops don't come up particularly big, I normally wear a 10 in tops but the long sleeve t-shirt I got from there is a 12 and isn't overly big.

They are a soft fabric, quite flowy, and wider leg, def not fitted. I have some fitted trousers from South, and TBH, once my bump got going, fitted styles just werent very comfortable. But my next ones, maaaan. They are such a relief to put on!

I had the tommee tippee microwave steriliser with DD3 (after a steam one with DD1, and a 3 in one boots one with DD2, where we only used the microwave bit!) However, i brought the steriliser at around 30 weeks, our microwave broke when i was 38 weeks! We got a new microwave and the steriliser didnt fit in the thing :mad: Luckily i could use it as a cold water one, which is what we did, and it was the best thing ever! Am planning on getting a cold water one this time too :) hth xx

I got the tommee tippee steriliser from mothercare, when I ordered it they had a mothercare microwave steriliser pod for free. So I have both, I also bought some microwave bags from boots to get the points and im sure well use them when we go his mums anyway and will save lugging a steriliser with us. Just add water and microwave the reusable bag.
I have however got 4 avent bottles for free from boots and avent as well as the tommee tippee ones from the steriliser starter set.
Love is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,
Like why are we here? And where do we go?And how come it's so hard?
It's not always easy,And sometimes life can be deceiving,

I've just got those Next trousers and they're really comfy - still keep heading south a bit on me but I'm at that arkward bit where just starting to get a bit too overcrowded in normal clothes but not enough for maternity (and I can get into a size down from normal which is always nice :D )

You're a star, saw this before we left the house, decided to buy online and take the dog for a walk instead - thankyou!

I ordered just the leggings and one dress for now to tide me over for some work events, I have a few tops from when I was a bit bigger for now as I'm at that inbetween stage where things are uncomfy, but I think maternity wear will swamp me! Dying to see what the dress looks like on anyway!

MIL said she thought she could see a little bump yesterday -at last! I'm tall and long in the body and the weight seems to have spread all over, I just look like I've been eating too many biscuits! :rotfl:
  • Morning everyone,

hope you all had nice weekends :)

Snoopytweety - yes being in HR certainly makes this all much easier - one less thing to worry about anyway! Is this your first baby?

I havnt started to look at buying anything yet - apart from a really cute sleepsuit from Next which I just fell in love with. Its red with blue stars so lovely for boy or girl. But reading all your comments re sterilisers etc Im thinking maybe I should make a start on things!
  • We started buying a few things at the weekend - clothes only really since they're small and easy to store - but both of us are still struggling a bit with getting our head around previous losses and the idea that this one's going to work out OK, so lots of talking was done about everything that has gone before and things (then we got sidetracked and went off to Nandos for chicken). Bought a little hat with ears on (ok some people hate them but I was desperate for the hat with ears photos to embarass with for future boyfriend/girlfriends) and it makes me cry looking at it to be honest - I don't think I've mentally processed it all yet - but at the same time, we have to get started shopping at some point and take the leap of faith.

And ok - so half of you are going to tell me I'm kidding myself here (especially being ahem... well upholstered) and only in week 13 - but I am positive I've started feeling movements! Was lying on the sofa a couple of days ago and felt, well if you ever put your cheek up to a glass of freshly opened fizzy drink and you can feel the bubble popping up on your face, from inside just around where the top of knickers that aren't Bridget Jones bellywarmers would sit... then last night, felt a definite butterfly and it was also from inside - but everything says that it's too early for a first pregnancy - but it definitely wasn't a sensation I've felt before (ok so I'm possibly more on the lookout than some women would be cos of being paranoid about everything).
