I checked on the directgov website and it says that they can take an additional 26 weeks paternity leave after the mother has gone back to work, and if it falls with in the 39 weeks that are paid then they will get the same rate So i will do 26 weeks and he will do 13 so it is all paid
I think the TV ad for the 30% off at DP is only instore thursday and friday, but if you see stuff you like tomorrow you could order it on line and still get the 30% off.
Ooh thats good for you then, I'm glad I was wrong for once!!!
Unfortunately the coat I wanted has sold out online so if I want it it'll have to be in store and there's no way I'm paying £65 for a coat I will only be wearing for one winter!!i'm not sure about mat leavei think with my heart condition i might have to take it as soon as possible. Earliest i can take it is 20th of feb as i'm due on the 3rd of may. which is very early but if i'm off sick they would automatically put me on it anyway. might have to discuss this with my employer when i return to work and see how i get on with my amended duties.
I'm pretty sure that if you're off sick they can't make you start your maternity leave until 37 weeks so it may work out ok for you.
I have really bad achey back and hips tonight and I just can't get comfy0 -

They can only start your maternity leave 4 weeks before EDD if you are off sick not any earlier, unless you choose to start i earlier. If you are likely to be signed of sick, I wouldn't take it any earlier! Leaves you more time on 'the other side' to spend with the baby...Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -

It is at -4 weeks to EDD auto start of Maternty leave if the sickness is maternity related. If it is non pregnancy related, then they cannot make you go on Maternity early at all.
If your condition is pre-existing, you may be able to argue that it is not maternity related, and therefore not have to go on Mat early, even if you are signed off sick. It will probably depend what your doctor writes on your sickness note- if its a nice doc, and you want to avoid early Mat, you could try persuading him as the best form of words for you...;)Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

Hi Laura, are you close to Lakeside then? I am in Chelmsford so not too far away. I havnt been able to face Lakeside on a weekend for a while though, its a bit too crowded for me and tires me out! Going to go down there again when they start the late night opening for Christmas as its normally a bit quieter then.
This weekend we are going to stay with my parents in Devon which will be lovely and relaxing. We'll just do some nice long walks with the dog and pop to the Christmas fair which is always lovely. Im starting to feel all festive so will probably drive hubby mad playing christmas songs all the way down there tonight!
As I am in HR it is normally me who sorts out everyone's maternity leave so I havnt got to do a letter to myself! lol Im due 15th April so thinking of working up to the 30th March at the moment, unless things change or I get too huge to get in the car!! Planning to go back after Christmas but if money gets tight I may go back sooner.
Gutted - can't believed I missed the entire conversation that I actually know something about!!!!!
I too have bought the Tommee Tippee bottles, closer to nature - think they are fab, and have bought the microwave steriliser - why would you want to sterilise for 20 minutes when you can pop it in the microwave for 7 lol!!
I have spent the evening stripping wallpaper in my new house - it is quite exciting now I have got over the stress of having to move again, tired now though x x x x
Charli - I am a HR Manager too!!! It makes all of this easier doesn't it? x x xxMarried the Man of my dreams 30/08/2008Baby No.1 arrived 04/04/2012, gorgeous little girl after 4 years of fertility issues!!:j:T0 -
I agree snoopytweety - I'm getting a microwave steriliser to save something else taking up work bench space in the kitchen
I've ordered the tommee tippee bottles as well, so thank for the advice from everyone.
I still go to the pub quiz every week and I'm drinking blackcurrant and soda, I thought I'd hate it but it's surprisingly ok to drink and quite cheap too. I bought one at the airport too for about 60p. Cheaper than water at the airport! :rotfl:TTC #3..........0 -
My friend has the Tommee Tippee non microwavable and it sterilises in 8 minutes I thinkThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

Glad to hear everything is going well Charlie :0) Cant offer any advice on drinks, I pretty much just drink water!!
Have you all done your letters outlining your intensiond for maternity leave? I am due 25th April and I think I will make my last day 13th April (ahh friday 13th!!) and go back on monday 15th October. As my other half works round the corner from me it is probably best for me to work as late as I can in case I go in to labor early. If it happens while he is at work it will take him 20 minutes to come and get me then 20 mins to get to hospital!! He is going to take the remaining 13 weeks of my paid leave so one of us will be there with baby until 13th January but we will still be able to keep the bills paid!!
Anyone got much planned for the weekend? I am off to Lakeside with my Mum and sister tomorrow so no doubt will come home with arm fulls of baby stuff x
You can work right up until the friday before your due date if you want, I didi would have been bored sitting at home waiting for the baby to come. For most people labour takes a good few hours so you shouldnt need to worry too much about your OH getting home on time. I told mine to come home and because he was booking someone in it was two hours later until he made it home then we had tea and went to bed for a bit before finally deciding to go to hospital then it was still another 3hours before LO arrived and that was quite a quick 1st labour!

Ooooh have you got moved then?
I've been shopping today and got a few bargains, I posted this on the maing PG thread but not sure if you all read that one so I'll copy it across!!
Mum ordered me this cotbed set from M&P:

And I got a seriously good bargain coat, it was this one from new look:
http://www.newlook.com/shop/womens/m...coat_222210647
but mine is black and as well as being 50% off I had a voucher for 20% that they let me use so it was £17.99!!!! Slightly better than the £70 I nearly paid for one from dorothy perkins!!!
ANd I got a cot mobile in mothercare that had 20% off. All of the boxes had £35 on except one said £30 so i picked that one up and they put that price in so I got it for £24!!!
Also got a nice hooded towel and flannel set for baby and 2 babygrows that are sleeveless and short legs that will be ideal for warm days in the summer....they were £3 for the set of 2!!!
The only thing is I really need some black over the bump trousers for work but I can't find any anywhere0 -

My favourate pair of black OTB trousers are from next- the ones with a self fold band. Soooooo comfy, and have seen me through from 20weeks and still going fine at 34 weeks.

Just heard about the DP 30% off so I'm headed to town tomorrow to buy my first maternity clothes! I'm 17 weeks but not really showing, just uncomfy in my skinny jeans so I'm going to settle for some over the bump leggings that I can grow into instead
I'm currently wearing a very old big coat I bought to wear over a suit to work years ago, but I feel frumpy in it, that coat is lovely Lisa, really smart too, I'm jealous, I'm super tall and when I tried it on the sleeves were much too short darn it!
Tonight I felt three very definate movements, like baby was turning cartwheels in there, I had a little smile and stayed still hoping for more, can't wait to feel regular movements!0
