DarkPheary - Great news that your beanie healthy, as much as we all might want to know the flavour, knowing they are healthy is the important thing isn't it - good luck for the next scan!
Lucy - No more being a pincushionalways good news!
Keza - another V day whoop!!!
Hope everyone else is doing OK, I had to attend a funeral today which was sad. I wasn't sure if I was blubbing because I was sad or because the hormones are all over the place - I cried at something really silly on the TV the other day so can't really judge atm.Whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re probably right ~ Henry Ford0 -
I have a potentially silly question! Im a first time Mum with very little baby knowledge so muddling through a bit with it all, although Im sure most first time Mums feel like that. Anyway, how do you know how many nappies and wipes etc to stock up on for when baby arrives?
Hi Hon. I'm a FTM as well, and had the same worries. I've been reading a really helpful book that i was recommended, and its helped me feel like i might have a bit of clue whats coming. Its easy to read, and literally breaks down what is the normal range for feeds, sleeping, crying etc without lecturing or telling you what you "have to do", which i found very helpful and reassuring.

Hi, with regards to "how many nappies! I`d also say dont buy too many of each brand...my DD3 was allergic to every nappy other than pampers. She had terrible nappy rash, and her poor bits were blistered and thrush came everytime another nappy was used. Even if we were out, had no nappies left and a friend gave us a huggies for 1/2 hour, she`d be red raw by the time we got home
We also had the problem then, that size 2 nappies, she leaked out of every single one!!! We emailed apmers and they sent us out £20 of vouchers, not just £1 off, was 4x£5 vouchers
1st time mums, dont panic about "what is normal" I was just 19 when i had DD1, and hadnt a clue. I thought i knew best so refused to do any antenatal classes etc, or read any books, and she was fineIS fine!
Same as those planning to bottle feed, dont buy tins upon tins of milk, your baby may not agree with some of them. All 3 of my DDs are dairy intolerant, and we had 5 months of no sleep, hourly 1 oz feeds, infected eczema on the face and failure to thrive before the hospital would listen to ours concerns with DD1!
Sorry for rambling heads still all over the place, really sorry you had to attend a funeral Icey, I have to face the same soon, and hormones just arent being nice to me! Especially as its 10 yrs since my own mum died on Halloween xxxMummy to 3 beautiful GIRLS, 9, 7 and 3,and a handsome lil BOY 03.03.12 :T

Icey, sorry you had a funeral to go to, I'm sure your blubbing was probably a bit of both. I find myself welling up at everything these days. i could have bawled my eyes out several times watching Holby the other day and it doesn't normally get to me at all. That and when I saw a small child riding a pony past my parents house....sooo cute but not worth crying over lol!!!
Congrats to DP, Keza, Luvy and lovecrafting, nice to hear you've all had good news.
I saw the consultant yesterday who looks after the PG ladies with thyroid problems and my levels are waaaaaaay out!! He's made a small increase in my meds that I don't personally think will be enough and told mw to stop taking my multi-vits at the same time as they contain Iron which can reduce how well the body absorbs the thyroxine. I've got to be retested in 3 weeks but I've actually booked the blood test for just over 2 weeks as I don't want to leave it too long!!
My DH is being such a little star! After all the problems we've had and the CVS last week I've been banned from doing any cleaning other than dusting! I won't be able to stick to it though as he won't want to do it as regularly as I would so I'll do a few sneaky bits while he's at work. yesterday I got in and he'd just finished cleaning the living room, hall and kitchen. He says he can't wait for April so I won't be working and can do it all!! I'm going to be a SAHM for a while atleast so it'll be the least I can do!
We're going to book to do the NCT antenatal classes, has anyone else thought about it? In our area they do it 10-4 on a sat and a sun and the one we should go to just happens to be when DH is on his hols from work so can go. if we did the NHS ones it'd be a nightmare as he works shifts so would more than likely be at work or something so its easier to do the NCT ones, plus lots of people seem to make good friends at them. I was really keen for DH to go as he's never even held a baby and I was concerned how we'd cope if I ended up having a CS and needing lots of extra help in the first couple of weeks. Atleast now he'll have a bit more of an idea!
I'll stop typing now or you'll all have had enough of my waffle!!0 -

I've booked to do the NCT antenatal as well, my course is 3 Saturday mornings. I haven't even heard or seen any NHS ones advertised in the area. I'm a FTM so I wanted to have some clue, OH was 14/15 when his younger bro was born so he knows some about changing nappies, winding etc.
I know part of the course is about breastfeeding and I really want to be able to do it properly, not gonna beat myself up like a friend of mine (think she has postnantal) who got really stressed out and thought she was a bad mother becasue she couldn't though.Got married 13/11/10
