Lisa/Gilly - what pushchair did you guys buy?

I settled on the Bugaboo Cameleon in the end. I know it's more expensive but in the end preferred it over my 2nd choice (Oyster). I think I'd have been happy with the Oyster, but I'm really excited to be getting the Cameleon. :)

Call me OCD or crazy, but I just decided to tot up how much I have spent so far on baby stuff. I haven't bought a lot, only some maternity clothes, scan pictures, a wooden frame for a moses basket and some reusable nappies and it comes to a shocking £402:eek:
On the plus side I have managed to get a free moses basket and a travel system :D

Oh and £177 for NCT antenatal course which includes membership to the NCT, so that's £579!!!!

I don't think I'm gonna keep a running total otherwise it would scare the hell out of me!! Baby's are expensive creatures!!!!!!

I don't think I should tell the OH, we are going to the Baby Show on Saturday at Earls Court and it might stop him getting his wallet out!!
    Got married 13/11/10 :)

Hmmm, I'm not sure if I want to add it all up, as you say, it might come as a bit of a shock :o Most of our stuff has come from the NCT Nearly new sale but I seem to have developed an overwhelming urge to go window shopping for baby clothes now that we know Elvis is a girl.

I'm clearly going to be difficult thought as I didn't like any of the light pink, fluffy, frilly, froo froo stuff in most of the shops. I appear to prefer the funky not-quite-so-gender-specific stuff :rotfl:

We paid £695 for ours Lisa, but we got the carry cot, pushchair and the car seat for that. I LOVE it, so hopefully will use it for as long as possible and maybe (that's a teeny maybe) use it for the next one :o

Which pram did you get gilly?

    :)

I haven't bought one yet and have only looked online so far but I like the look of the Mamas and papas Ultima 9 in 1 or the Norton 3 in 1 but will have to go have a play with a few and see what I think. I like the more traditional what I call 'proper' prams.

Bought my first baby things and maternity clothes today, baby stuff from tesco and mine from matalan. Got myself some seriously comfy yoga pants and they were only £10, would deffo recommend them.

I think it's good to have an "awareness" of what you're spending as it must be so easy to get carried away and it's not like we'll all stop buying things after the birth ;)/ I'm keeping a track of what we've spent so far and we did set a budget at the beginning (a generous budget, but a budget all the same).

I have a potentially silly question! Im a first time Mum with very little baby knowledge so muddling through a bit with it all, although Im sure most first time Mums feel like that. Anyway, how do you know how many nappies and wipes etc to stock up on for when baby arrives?

Im not due til April but starting to stock up now so as to avoid scary grocery bills later on. I ve also joined the Asda baby club and got hubby to join too so that 2 free packs of nappies and wipes to start us off :). Link here if anyone hasnt done this yet - http://www.asda.com/baby/babyJoin.html

What other baby clubs are people joining for freebies?

Hope everyone is doing well :)

Well had scan this morning and baby is totally fine and healthy. All measurements within the normal range and placenta is high up so no problems there. We got to see it's little toes and lips and nose, only issue was baby refused to let us have a quick peek between it's legs so we are still team yellow. Am a little gutted as would have loved to know if it's pink or blue but just the fact that baby is healthy and happy was all i needed to know :) We have 3 more scans in 3rd tri so will just have to wait 8 more weeks and see if baby is more cooperative.

Hi charli. One of the ladies who has a few kids popped in last week and said the 12 nappies per day guideline is a little on the high side. I'm aiming for 7 per day to help buying in advance. I'm also buying a few different brands too (as some may fit better than others to an individual baby, avoiding leakages...... :) You won't know what's best for your baby until you can try them out. Hope this helps :)
